She was playing great and got a little tight. Zhang also picked up her level.

Seems like her shoulder is still bothering her. Taped up and getting no free points on serve. Needed in the pros.

She did make a change from the Head Speed to Head Extreme. Some much needed extra free power

Tough loss. She was up both sets especially that first. Good learning experience for Mary although she did win a round last year.

Nice to hear about the racquet change. Getting that shoulder 100% healthy and then working on power and put away shots needs to be her off seasons.

She has the athleticism, competitiveness, heart, court smarts, etc. to make it.

Zhang gets Dasha next round. I was hoping for some revenge. Dasha does seem to be making the transition a little more easily with her game but it's only been a few months. It took Carson a while and then there was a big jump.

She'll be back. In the meantime.....

We watched Mary just go to town on Zhang during the first set then Zhang gained momentum and ended up beating Mary. Bless Mary's heart!!! Then Zhang whooped up on Dasha and keeps going.... It feels like Mary is taking her time getting used to the Pro tour and not worrying about the numbers right now. She is methodical and watching and learning. I wish she had the money to get a team of Trainers, Sports Psychologists and heavy hitter coaches because she would shoot up so much higher.

She is definitely struggling. Has lost 6 of her last 8 matches.

Mary was an outstanding college player. I don't see her game translating to the Pros, will be pleasantly surprised if she broke into the top 75. She has the work ethic that will take her a long way but she lacks weapons. A change in racquet won't be enough. Her form needs tweaking on the forehand and serve. She could be an excellent long term doubles pro, however.
