I don't know if this belongs here or in Outdoors but move at will.

I'm getting back into playing tennis for the first time in a while. I checked my racquet and the tourna-grip I had on it "melded" with the original grip and, well, let's just say it was a mess. I peeled both off and am at the base layer, which is sort of like the golf tape you put on a club before the grip.

I need to clean up that tape or base layer or whatever it is because it still has some "particles" on it. Once I've done that, I'm afraid whatever adhesive properties it had won't be there. However, I can't find a replacement product for that. I've found the replacement grip, but I don't really want to put it on a dirty base layer.

For anyone that's done this before, what is that and can I find it anywhere? OR, do I just clean it up and put the grip on it as it is? I know the grip itself has some adhesion. I don't know whether I'll put overgrip on there or not but if I do, I'll watch it more carefully.

TIA!

Tough to tell without pictures. You shouldn't need to clean anything though.

I would throw on the new grip + and overgrip. There should be enough friction there to keep everything in place.
