Thought I'd make a thread so we can all see where our athletes stand! For those who aren't aware or who need a refresher on how the post season works, it's as follows. In two week's will be the NCAA National Prelims or Regionals.
NCAA Outdoor Track is firstly divided into 2 Regions, and East and a West. The dividing line seems to be a little crooked, but schools west of the state line of Arkansas, Mizzou, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin, excluding Louisiana are all on the west side. The other states are in the east.
The athletes are then ranked on the season's best performance. So an athlete can have 7 bad meets, but if they have one amazing meet they'll qualify to this meet. Every individual event takes the top 48 times or marks. For relays it's the top 24. Sometimes athletes aren't able to compete at this meet due to injury or sometimes they have a top 48 mark in one event but want to focus on another. So athletes may scratch their mark from consideration and the next in line will be accepted! So the top 48 entered marks is more accurate!
Then at this meet WHICH WILL BE HOSTED AT TEXAS A&M, the top 12 athletes will advance. Or for distance races, it's usually the top 5 in each heat and next two fastest times. Some races have a different format for choosing the top 12.
