Pro track is here in Aggieland! Many of the worlds best will convene today at EB Cushing Stadium as part of World Athletics Continental Tour. This meet is the Lone Star Grand Prix and a fantastic opportunity for us to host at our home track!

Stars such as Jenna Prandini, Gabby Thomas, Michael Norman, Deanna Price, Grace Stark, Ackera Nugent, Trevor Bassit, Andre De Grasse, Trayvon Bromell, Oblique Seville, Cambrea Sturgis, as well as Aggie LEGENDS like: Shamier Little, Bryce Deadmon, Jacob Wooten, Sam Whitmarsh, Samantha Watson, Connor Schulman, and James Smith II will all be competing! There are Olympians in every single event! This is a star studded meet that we get to host!

It's a 3 hour track meet so not every event will be contested. The 800 will be the longest event and there's only selected field events. There is also a high school 100 meter dash that will feature future Aggie Justin Stewart as well as phenoms like Dillon Mitchell, Mia Maxwell and others. Aggie Stefon Dodoo will also be competing in the 800 as well.

The meet will be streamed on NBC but if you're in the area I suggest heading out there to watch the world's best! Our home will be on the world stage starting at 2pm!

Thinking about heading out there this afternoon but looks like parking is $40 because of the soccer game, anyone know if that's correct? I didn't see anything specific to the meet on the campus transportation website.

Maybe...? , but I would think they are counting on track fans leaving around 5 to open up spaces for soccer fans....

The other thing that doesn't make sense is a got an email from Texas A&M athletics "Below is all the info you need so you are ready for the USATF Lone Star Grand Prix presented by 44 Farms."

But the link to parking is all about soccer@ $40.

However, it shows you can park in the lot in front of Cushing.....that lot has always been reserved for meet officials....

I'll report back when we get there...

Thanks. That's a small lot also. The meet would be fun, but $40 for parking seems extreme.

I didn't know what time it *actually* started (no offense to women's Hammer) and was in my seat by 1:25. I sweated more than I ever have at a football game.

Why would Taylor even go to college with the times hes been running?

And yeah makes no sense to say how much you love running on A&M track both indoor and outdoor and then go to Cody Campbell Community College. Must have gotten one heck of an NLI package.

Agreed! Is taking classes and training in the beautiful Lubbock, Texas better than traveling the world and getting paid to run fast times. It'll be interesting to see how his summer goes, as well as for the Maxwell twins headed to tu. 2027 will have a world championships, it'll be easy to want to focus on that. They must be getting paid big time! Let's hope they all go pro!!

NIL was always gonna have a big affect on track athletes because in some cases, the NIL package would exceed any pro circuit earnings.

Agreed in most cases, but with Taylor being the first HS to ever go below 20 seconds...I would think hed get a Pro deal comparable to Lutkenhaus.

With NIL rules, seems a college athlete can go ahead and get a lucrative deal with Nike, etc as-if they were a pro? I guess the value difference is less exposure at the NCAA level than a full-time international pro. But top level athletes should be able to do really well in college I would think. Different lifestyle and some may want to go ahead and hit the big time but seems open to keep some higher level athletes at the NCAA level. Doesn't that sound right or am I missing something?

I don't know NIL is that lucrative. There's not an incentive for the shoe companies to make that investment for an athlete whose schedule they don't control. Most pros are on shoes, apparel, training deals because top level guys need training partners. Only a few will make major money.

But NIL helps college kids getting some money and they don't have to worry about trying to place at US Nationals, World Championship, or Diamond League standings like the people on money deals or they lose their contracts.
