Any recommendations on Christmas lights installation? Hubby doesn't want to climb on the roof anymore with his bad back. I've heard it's quite expensive.

Get permanent LED lighting installed. You can light up for Christmas, RWB on 4th of July, Orange on Halloween, etc

Congrats on the kinky fornication.

Always remember, no matter how much you sweat don't let go of the ropes.

Sure. I know some great installers in Montana. Does that work for you? Or would you like to narrow down the area a bit?

My neighbors have obnoxious cheap LEDs taped to their house but at least Diwali is super colorful every year! I've thought about getting the Jellyfish lights but I have a 1.5 story house so it's not a massive undertaking for me to climb up there.

Worst thing you can do is this. Looks so tacky. Makes your house look like a UFO. Our HOA has banned these. Hire someone to put in some nice C9s.

I really hope this fad dies a quick, painful death. It's one thing when there a few scattered homes in a neighborhood that have them, but the more they proliferate it starts lighting the sky like Vegas.

I love Christmas lights from November into January, but I hate that people want to light up the sky year round.

I'd love to see that language in your HOA docs. No way that's enforceable unless people are running them year round. I'm not going to spend $400+ a year or risk climbing for roof lights. We put plenty of traditional lights and decorations along the driveway, trees and yard.

You can certainly enforce a restriction that says "jellyfish style" lights aren't allowed.
What you can't enforce is allowing jellyfish lights but put restrictions on when they can/can't be used. Therefore many HOAs are just prohibiting them outright.

Agree with this. I don't think they look good at all.

I'm not calling for an HOA ban but they aren't my style. They don't have that classic Christmas feel of the good ol Griswold string lights you risk life and limb to put up lol

I think it was like $1200 for the lights and installation last year. Looks like we paid $650 for just the install this year. It's frankly crazy to me to spend that much, but my wife works her ass off all year so this is a treat for her.

It's cracking me up how early the guy starts his installs, we had ours up before Halloween and I held off actually running them until this week.

My experience is that those who celebrate Christmas the earliest are those who have the most secular concept of Christmas. That's why they're generally sick of Christmas come December 26th and are ready to move on.

Those who make Christmas all about the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ tend to focus on the preparatory nature of the Advent season and celebrate the 12 Days of Christmas the way Jesus and our Supreme Pontiff want us to.

lol I love Christmas but the coffee + cold temps that day activated my cheer a little early this year. I still love Jesus.

Had no idea I was sending such secular vibes with my Christmas spirit timing. I'll adjust accordingly next year.

Family on the end of my street runs his year round and its annoying. Sure they them them around the holidays, but the rest of the years is simply a constantly running mix of colors Our HOA is incredibly useless in every aspect except demanding their annual dues.

Do any of you actually have these? Everyone on my street puts up lights and it pisses me off more every year having to put them up and take them down. If these work as advertised I would pay someone to install them and only light them up for Christmas.
