She's been a pretty big character in the last few Mission Impossible films, was very good in this role.

I'm a pretty big Marvel fan and also haven't seen FF4. Went with friends to see Thunderbolts and the same group to see Superman, but a couple of guys had conflicts when FF4 came out, and it seemed a lot less urgent once that happened.

It's going to make way less money than Superman or Jurassic World 17, probably because it came out third of the three. It's at $240m through 22 days. Jurassic was at $286m at this point, and Supes at $306m.

Feels like a lot more people will watch it out of duty on Disney+ before the next Avengers comes out just so they have their bases covered, but otherwise - knowing that Doom is in it for 1 second, and all the other characters are people we've seen 3 times in movies in the last 25 years, it's not like anyone is desperately trying to learn about the FF4 at this point.

Oh, I just decided to look at the "top box office for 2025." World wide, FF4 has already passed both Brave New World and Thunderbolts. Domestically it has passed F1 and Mission Impossible and is barely trailing How to Train Your Dragon. So, I don't know that it's doing all that terribly relative to everything else. Lilo and Stitch and Minecraft, both kids movies, are tops, with Jurrassic World behind them.

To have F4 surpass Thunderbolts and Cap4 worldwide should have been expected….cap4 and thunderbolts were massive flops and if F4 did worse than them worldwide we would've seen Marvel gone into panic mode like never before and that would've been a shock.

Domestically I'm also not surprised that it's passed F1….that was an original movie with zero fan base to build from and worldwide it's close to 580 million….

Mission impossible is nearly at 600 million worldwide….

Dragon is at 623 million worldwide…..

While F4 is struggling to hit 500 million worldwide…..

Can't cherry pick statistics here…the international box office matters just as much as domestic and recent films from DC and the MCU have shown feigning interest from the international box office…

Unless something drastic changes the MCU is going to have to accept if they want these films to make money they can't keep operating on 200 million + budgets with 100 - 150 million marketing budgets because the return just isn't there anymore….

The real litmus test will be Brand New Day and Doomsday. Both those movies need to gross a billion.

id say there's a pretty good chance Brand New Day grosses over a billion worldwide considering NWH did 1.9 billion worldwide….

However I just don't see doomsday grossing over a billion worldwide…if Superman and F4 had their international box office >>>>> domestic then there's barely a chance….but considering those films internationally did worse than their domestic and Cap 4 & thunderbolts BARELY had their international beat domestic id say it's a long shot…..

Based on prior history doomsday would need to gross somewhere around 550 - 600 million domestically if they want to hit 1 billion worldwide and I just don't see it….

If Doomsday is even remotely good it will gross over a billion. Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU - even as a different character - is going to be a massive, massive ordeal. He's the one draw that gets everyone back to the theater. Not to mention, even outside of him, this is maybe the most stacked cast of all time, not just in the MCU, but in any movie ever. Granted, it seems so overstuffed in that regard that it could very well backfire, but still. Either way, unless it's somehow just a flaming piece of crap, I would be absolutely shocked if Doomsday doesn't do a billion at least. If it doesn't? That's basically the end of the MCU as we know it. Post Secret Wars, it will be something way cheaper and completely different.

Hmmmmmmm……very interesting…..care to, make a bet?

Say….$100?

I propose that Avengers Doomsday WILL NOT gross over a billion worldwide (domestic + international)….

That being said i actually hope it does and that it's an amazing film…I.e. I hope I'm wrong…

Secrecy at all cost simply isn't worth this kind of insanity. Even if they released the entire Doomsday script to the public six months in advance, the amount of people who would actually read it/know its plot points would be such a small percentage of the eventual viewing audience…

I mean don't they all sign non-disclosures and all that? Seems like threatening with money should be enough without all these extra precautions…

Man, I don't know about that. Imagine if Infinity War leaked and anyone who's invested knew about the snap already. That would be pretty insane.

That tweet is also insane but I'd be livid if someone knew beforehand what the deal was with RDJ's Doom and that he kills Thor (or something).

You're not wrong, but you'd still be part of only a small fraction of the audience who follows this stuff this closely online, this far out.

Endgame leaked. The link to the entire plot was posted on this board days before it was released. It was 100% correct, even fat Thor, smart Hulk and Captain America using Thor's hammer.

That's wild. I guess days before is one thing - you've already got your tickets and hopefully can manage your curiosity.

It's just crazy that it's come to this but I guess it's the natural evolution, in a way. Imagine if the script leaked a year before and people weren't feeling it. That word of mouth could cost them hundreds of millions, potentially, or they may do reshoots just to preserve some secrecy again.

This seems like it would have massively detrimental effects on the actor's performance, especially if you're already doing things surrounded by green screens. How are you even supposed to visualize the scene if they won't even tell you who is in it.

Wasn't it Shakespeare that wrote:
Quote:

The highest art of acting is to stand,
Alone within a hall of endless green,
And summon worlds with but a voice and hand,
Till unseen realms take shape and rise between.

My first thought. Although at the same time, how many big-budget action movies with special effects has Alan Cumming been in since X2? I'm guessing zero. Which means he hasn't see the progression of how such movies work over the last 20 years and probably is being slightly dramatic with that quote

Feige said in an interview a month or two back that Miles Morales is off limits for the MCU right now, at least until Sony is done with the Spider-verse movies.

I hope he's more than some college professor or something though. The MCU has great actors in all roles but I really like Tillman and I'd hate for him to be a one-off.

Yelena though… Yelena, Hulk and Punisher. What is this movie?

My reasoning is based on these Marvel movies dont exist in a vacuum, they are all impacted by the trend created from the movies before it and then impact the ones after it.

it suffered from a few years of just bad movies/shows being released that kill the publics enthusiasm for the product. This movie was actually pretty good and was reviewed well, and has the public actually interested in seeing Marvel movies again for this next run of movies coming up.

Its a Marvel movie with any A tier super heroes, and maybe one B tier depending on what you think of Bucky (and he wasnt really advertised as one of the main characters in the movie I dont think).

Once you start seeing quotes like this, it doesnt bode well for the movie.
We'll see I guess, it's possible he is barely in it and everyone else was actually having a normal film making experience.
