Surprised they didn't do an alien abduction skit.

Some posters on F16 didn't think it was funny.

You can set your watch to any of these replies from those thin-skinned idiots whenever SNL is mentioned.

"It stopped being funny years ago."

"I stopped watching a long time ago"

"People still watch that."

"I had no idea it was still on."
Username checks out.

It's really just one guy who considers himself an expert on comedy that thinks it wasn't funny.

If that person is just trolling, then the waitress line is genius. I get the feeling it's not a troll, though, which just makes the line sad.

I liked a lot of McKinnon's characters, but I agree she became kind of one-trick-pony. She absolutely owned Ryan Gosling in those abduction skits (he was hysterical too) and you can see him genuinely losing it, shaking from laughing so hard.

The joke swaps are always great. See Superman stories.

Jost and Pete Davidson had good segments too -- mostly taking different paths from growing up in Staten Island.

Yeah, I think people are giving Che too much credit here. I think Che was just thinking it would be funny to have him do the jokes in front of a civil rights activist, and figured he could just use an actor and didn't need a real person. I don't think Che had some super meta joke where all the Black people who know she's an actor and the White people would think it's a real person, but the real joke is that it shows how racist people are. I bet the Black audience also thought it was a real Civil Rights leader from the 60s. The joke Che was going for was just having Jost say that MLK widow line in front of someone everyone thought matched with MLK.

Her being introduced as an obscure original cast member made it more believable. It really made no difference to me. The joke still landed.

Whose impression do you think is better, JAJ or Shane Gillis? Also technically SNL, since he was a member of the cast for two weeks.

What's crazy is how good JAJ also does Biden. It rivals Darryl Hammond doing an amazing Clinton and an amazing Gore.

Gillis is really good, but it's just a straight impression. Whereas JAJ nails the overall essence better, with the hilarious pop culture rambling, and can improvise/go stream-of-conscious if need be, without missing a beat.

Could not believe how flat and dumb the cold open was last night. Of all the NFL related ways they could have gone (a play on TSwift, NFL conspiracy to get her to the SB) they went with that?

Thought this was their best of the night

I liked the PDD video, but I thought DJ sucked pretty hard as a host.

This has E board vibes.

Agreed, pretty weak last night other than the Please Don't Destroy, Home Videos, and the Big Dumb Cup commercial.

Like anything that gets too popular, it then becomes lame to like it. Usually of all of the people/posers pretending to like it TOO much.
Even if it was at one point good early on.

Also, the people complaining about people liking it use to be the one's claiming it was the greatest thing ever.

Shane Gillis being the next host is interesting. I'm sure his monologue will mention being part of the cast and then being fired.
