This movie is a phenomenon.
- Most-watched animated film on Netflix: "KPop Demon Hunters" became the most-watched animated film of all time on Netflix, with over 180 million views. It even surpassed the viewing trajectory of "Red Notice", setting a new record for ANY film on Netflix. 7 straight weeks as Netflix's #1 streaming content is also a platform record.
- Billboard 200 chart success: The soundtrack held strong at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart for the week of August 16, scoring more than 3 billion global streams to date. It became the highest-charting soundtrack of 2025 and the highest-charting soundtrack to an animated film since "Encanto" in 2022.
- Billboard Hot 100 achievements: The soundtrack notably charted three songs in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously, a feat not accomplished by many movie soundtracks. The film's lead single, "Golden", became the first song by a girl group to hit No. 1 on the chart since Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious" nearly 25 years ago.
- Spotify success: The song "Golden" has amassed over 350 million streams on Spotify alone.
And with the recent theatrical release, it is now eligible and a shoe in at the Oscars for nominations in Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.
Another interesting aspect of this movie, is apparently Sony spent $100m making KPop Demon Hunters and sold it to Netflix for a $20m profit. So now Netflix owns the rights for what is essentially a billion dollar, Frozen-esque animated property.
