Sci-fi Spielberg is back with one of his most audacious - and top secret - projects to date. No one even knew the title of this thing until today, and now June can't get here soon enough...

Quote:

If you found out we weren't alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people.

We are coming close to … Disclosure Day.

That had a sense of wonder to it that reminded me of 80s Spielberg

Rewatched the best movie of all time on a flight this weekend. The Matrix has me prepared for any tomfoolery.

I'm not trying to be a smartass, but haven't we known the name of this for a while? Or was it just speculated that it would be called 'Disclosure Day'?

I too am looking forward to it.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
War of the Worlds

Yep, loves aliens. Aside from a series about a globe trotting archaeologist and stories set during WWII, he has focused on aliens quite a bit.

Except Indy did involve aliens.

Nah, SS read the UAP thread, they're inter-dimensional beings now for that one.

But yeah, that was my point, this will make five really. All different stories, not even the same IP. It's clearly a fascination for him. No problems with it, it's just interesting.

Wait, I have been told on TA that no such movie exists.

It's right there with Beverly Hills Cop 3 in biggest movies never to actually see release.

In the trailer, during the Mission Control looking scene, the video board shows photos of "missing employees"

There was a literal flying saucer at the end. We all know it's aliens.

For a year+ it was rumored to be titled The Dish, but that actually turned out to be the name of the column that first scooped the news of the movie's existence. The way "The Dish" was formatted alongside the article heading, and considering the movie's subject matter, made it look like the movie was titled The Dish when it wasn't.

Then it was also rumored to simply be called Disclosure. Some outlets still called it The Dish, some outlets called it Disclosure, and others stayed with variations of Untitled Steven Spielberg UFO Movie.

Finally, this morning it was announced as Disclosure Day, which had never been used before. Personally, I think Disclosure is way better, but I'll reserve final judgment until I see the movie itself.

Think about it. Disclosure Day = D-Day

Obviously this is the long awaited sequel to Saving Private Ryan

That trailer didn't really do much for me in terms of building anticipation for the movie. Seems a little tired and stale (and the movie looks like a retread too). Would be happy to be wrong!

What's up with all the cardinals (the bird) in the UAP stuff?

Quote:

... the bird in question is actually a red cardinal. This alludes to another line of thought, one that involves the Vatican. The red cardinal of course is representative of the Vatican because Catholic Cardinals wear red vestments and are key advisors to the Pope. The bird is in fact named after the clergy's red color.

Quote:

The fact is the Vatican has a long standing interest in astrology, space and the heavens above. And they had the means to do something about. In 1891 they founded the Vatican Observatory, one of the world's first astronomical research institutions. What did they find? Good question. We don't know because the Vatican is notoriously tight-lipped on the matter. As well, they had established the Vatican Secret Archives where they stash all their knowledge garnered about cosmic anomalies and/or aliens. Your guess is as good as mine.

Quote:

In 1968, Erich von Dniken published Chariots of the Gods? which asserted that, "The Church rewrote history to hide humanity's extraterrestrial origins." It suggests that ancient structures like Nazca Lines, pyramids and religious texts are evidence of humanity's contact with aliens, even probably descended from such "galactic pioneers." What is interesting is that the Bible and other related texts are chock full of events that can be interpreted as anomalous events, UFOs and encounters with aliens. Some of these texts were explicit on the topic but were then removed by the Church, ie. The Book of Enoch.

I prefer Disclosure Day, personally. Makes it sound like an event, a day of revelations (or a Revelation?). When I just hear the title Disclosure, it sounds like the next Michael Crichton legal thriller.

Though if we had a new Michael Crichton story, that'd be a real story in and of itself...

Movie comes out tis summer, government then confirms it before the mid terms.

Looks interesting. I wonder if its something like certain individuals have alien DNA in them and they are being "awakened" for an arrival?

The word disclosure means to reveal something. So this is not a typical alien arrival/invasion movie. The aliens will reveal their presence on earth. In that sense it is closer to War of the Worlds than CE3K, as the Martians were already here as well.

Along with Avengers Doomsday, Disclosure Day is my most anticipated movie next year. Wait, I have to add Project Hail Mary and Dune Part 3 to that list.

Disclosure Day automatically makes me think of Independence Day and I'm pretty sure Spielberg's film will be more intellectual than ID. Would prefer just Disclosure.

Not that it really matters.

Spielberg is too old and no way this is better than the Demi Moore/horny Michael Douglas version
