It seems like the video game console may be the next form of physical media to be killed off by online / cloud-based engagement. Got me to thinking about the various platforms I've owned over the years, and I was curious what other folks have experienced. What have y'all owned and what was your favorite? I've had the following:

Consoles aren't going away, any time soon. We may have fewer options, but I don't see Nintendo or Playstation disappearing. Also, gaming is usually in the Nerdery forum, if you want to talk video games.

Also have a PC, but not much gaming on it. Probably put the most time on the Xbox One, but have generally been happy with all platforms.

I agree that Nintendo and definitely Playstation will keep going. Bummed because I've always loved the Xbox, but they just can't compete it seems. I've always liked the Xbox controller more than the PS one. Just fits in my hands better.

In 1999, I built my own arcade cabinet that runs MAME, consoles, etc. and I lost touch with the latest and greatest. I bought the Xbox used after it was already obsolete and just played NCAA as well as a disk that had MAME and a bunch of ROMs on it so I could play classic arcade games on the big-screen.

• Atari 2600 - PAL version - it would still play NTSC games from the USA but the colors were messed up
• NES - got bad grades my Junior year at A&M, had to leave that thing at home
• PS1 - living as a bachelor for 6 months, needed something to do
• Didn't game for about 5 years
• PS3 - needed an Australia Region DVD / BluRay player, daughters loved Just Dance and used the PlayStation more than I did
• PS4 - after my oldest went to college, I became semi-addicted to CoD for a while
• PS5 - so I can play Astro Bot with my grandson

EDIT: Forgot to add a whole bunch of Nintendo Game and Watch games
Including the fold out, two screen Donkey Kong game that I bought at duty free in Auckland, New Zealand in 1983
