Maybe we should have a Bonfire Reunion and organize by years, dorms and pots. Backbone I have the Dunn history for 5 or 6 years beginning in 75. Seems like we could piece it together.

Sounds good. When I was yellow, the line on the pot went to 80? (I think....without looking at my pot) I know that they added a few more names since then, but I'm not sure it made it all the way back to 76. That would be great to get that info just in case. The line has started back again now that there's significant interest in the dorm for the OCB.

If you guys do that, I'm still in touch with several Crocker guys from 92 to 99(ish) I could round up.

I think I recognize some of you *******s. I was "Puker" back in the day. Crocker c/o '98.

A 2 week old at home precluded travel for me.

"Puker" definitely rings a bell. Never even occured to me I might actually know people on this board. Just happened to check it out today.

I sorely regret not being able to make it to the Bird last week. There was no way I could have made it, and 93 wasn't represented at all unfortunately. However, I'm thinking about coming out Tuesday... It's great to see everyone here. I understand about 20 folks spanning about 20 years showed up that night. THAT'S impressive.

I have the line from 80 onward. I think the guys after me figured out the rest (up through 79), but I'd need to check. No worries. If you're headed to the fire tonight, you're probably already late.

The Moses line started in 74... its been 12 years and I can somehow still recite the line without a problem.

By my count 17/30 dorms are now coed. I think Neeley was the latest one to go. Word around the block is either Moore or Crocker is next. No solid proof right now, that I know of, just the word going around. (although doors at sbisa and fhk were broken by crocker last year, and they did stick the sbisa cop by the crocker/walton tables)

That does highlight a trend thats been going on… They killed Hotard. Davis-Gary was made all female a ways back, Moses is now coed/freshman, Neeley is coed, Schuhmacher is coed & aggie-access… list goes on

Ten years ago, there were only 6 coed dorms. If the trend continues, A&M housing will be all-coed in the early '20s.

I was just talking about that with my sisters and BIL's last night. Between all of us we have a wide variety of dorm experiences. I lived in Moore for 2 years, oldest sister lived in Mosher for 1 and Keathley for 2, her husband was in the band, the other sister lived in mosher for 1 and Clements for 2, and the other BIL lived in Moses for 4 (where essentially my sister lived as well).

I think coed dorms have their place, but I just don't see the attraction that they need to get rid of all of the single sex dorms. I thinnk there is value in the single sexedness. Communities are allowed to grow when you aren't worried about what the other sex is going to think of you acting dumb or something. You're allowed to open up more when you take that sex factor out of the equation.

I loved where I lived and can't imagine the experience being nearly as life shaping if Moore had been coed and essentially just a bunch of guys and girls all sleeping in the same building together.

When I lived on campus the only coed dorms were Lechner, FHK, Clements, Wells and Epright. They all sucked except for Lechner and FHK which both had extenuating circumstances to avoid their suckness.

I lived in coed dorms and never saw this as a problem. But then, I was a computer engineering major and got more than enough all-male time that way.

you know, I've heard some great stories from back in the day when hhh was all male… west side parties, bedroom polo, chaining fish to the grate outside fhk and leaving them to bargain with the keathley girls for scissors to cut their boxers (thru which the bike chain was looped). but I have to say, having lived there with it being coed doesn't subtract a lot. you find the right girls that want to do Bonfire (or just hang out in that group), and they can spice up the mix….not many guys outside of walton really wanna strip tease for their buddy's birthday. that said I'm against turning them all coed - for reasons why, let me just say it feels weird shouting "In the a**" after neeley's grode yell these days

Yep. That's a good reason. I'm not sure it would go over too well with Reslife, though.

Do y'all still yell that? Last time I was at Stack, people just tried to drown them out like they do with the other dorm.
Fitch

So long as Neeley still yells it I think all of us who know to do it will. Still waiting for them to walk their talk. I don't think I ever heard a whole dorm shout it, tho.

too true Fitch, my "Hotard - Pimpin' Neeley since 1982" shirt no longer conveys the message that was intended.

Back to the yellow discussion.....I missed the jump from the history question to the coed thread. Although it seems the posting of Dunn's history spurred it on.....the first yellow from what we know was 1976. I believe the dorm was opened in 75 (along with the rest of the commons), construction started in 72.

Even Hobby was affected. They are no longer undisputed for the title of "best damn non-honors coed modular dorm on Northside".

Dunn was Coed when it first opened in 72 (top two floors). First YP was in 1976 (although Civilian Coordinator lived there in 1975).

Anyone know Sterling Price or how to contact? E-mail me at ppaltice at hotmail dot com.

Thanks,
