And though Aggie coach Dennis Franchione could not show up for Saturday's bonfire lighting, several players promised to attend the event on their own. Former band members and yell leaders took part as well.

I understand that Fran can't buck the system, but the fact that some players showed is good bull.

Fran could have slapped on a fake mustache and attended, no one would've seen thru that disguise :-)

I noticed that they didn't mention "Red Pots" in that article. What happened to them?

In respect to the Redpots and thier lines that didn't pass beyond '99, the leadership of Bonfire are called "Grey-pots." Off-Camups Bonfire has created it's own lines with the Greys and Greens, and it is going quite well.

In 2002, a group of '90s Redpots came to Bonfire and offered to pass their pots and lines to us. In honor of what they went through and what we didn't, we respectfully declined their pass-downs. They understood, and I hope you do too.

Sounds like a respectful thing to do.

Man, wish I was still in Texas so I could've gone to Bonfire this year :-(

You can still donate! It's just as helpful as swinging an axe or shouldering a log.

$102.76 rounds out the Jeff Sponsorship and closes out the Jr. Grey Pots.

Up for it?
