I am jealous...the boys have old reds, browns, yellow and chiefs, but I woul dlike to hear some stories, advice, anything from the girls. If anyone knows some old Pinkpots that would be willing to share with the new Greenpots, it would be greatly appreciated.

If the usage of the term "beard" has you at a loss, take a look at entries 1 and 2 in the Urban Dictionary here:

Amen to that! Back in '93-'94 I didn't realize how much they did until some of my buddies got tapped for that job and I wound up helping them occasionally. It was fun, but geez did I get reeducated about the work they did. I woke up way earlier than I did for Cut... toting big crates of those cheesy fruit drinks around the loading docks at Duncan in the dark. Packed hundreds of lunches. And full water coolers are HEAVY when you are my size!

I did love getting to slalom through the mud in my donor pickup -- uphill, skidding between trees; ! But then after Cut weekends we spent a lot of time standing in some very cold water to wash every speck of mud off/out of those trucks before we drove them back to the dealers who lent them to Bonfire. I had no idea what all they did, and I was only helping them with part of it. And they put up with people hassling them about "just riding around in trucks all day" (not to mention the tackier slanders). Loading trucks was way more fun, to me! (Hello Kip and any other Walton buddies) But this was fun too, I got to help my good friends (lifelong friends, in fact) and see a different side of Bonfire.

Ahh, memories!!

Howdy, Sue (kiss my axe)!! How's things?

Yeah, they did a lot more WORK than that for which they were given credit and alot less "extra-curricular" than that of which they were accused. My sister, my roommate, and many of my friends were Pinkpots. The only one I know of who "serviced" a red did so only after they were married.

I find it particularly annoying that some people with no actual knowledge keep perpetuating false information. I guess, unfortunatetly, that there are a$$es in every generation of Bonfire.

well said Kip! my buds who did that job (including "li'l Kip"!) were truly some of the sweetest people I know and did absolutely nothing to deserve such comments. Nobody who actually knew them thought otherwise. But stories/jokes are hard to kill. I wouldn't want any current students thinking such comments had any real basis. They worked really hard and undoubtedly fundraising was part of it -- like I said I only helped with some, but I know they coordinated a bunch of stuff. Not sure what the current pots do so can't make comparison.

Well the greenpots are all wholesome godfearing virgins who have never smelled alcohol or had a curse word pass their lips or enter their ears.

(This is probably not the place or time to say this, but something needs to be cleared up. Begin Rant)

The primary job of the Head Green Pot is to assist the Treasurer of the Board of Directors for Aggie Student Bonfire in maintaining the financial matters of the organization. She in turn brings in Jr. Greens to help her with her tasks. These are girls who don't care to swing axes, but want to help build Bonfire.

Out of the goodness of their hearts, they perform other tasks that are asked of them. Their duty is to the company functions, reporting to the HGP who reports to the Treasurer (not the Greys).

If the leadership feels that there need to be non-log carrying participants in Bonfire to help raise money, feed the participants, and perform various other services; reinstate the pinks (or start a "purple" pot line) to do this job. To think that the greens are around to be "new army" pinks is to be sadly mistaken.

(end rant)

I remember at one of the first meetings in '03 the pinks were mentioned.
