from what i have heard the pinkpots did a lot more than what most people think of them. they did fundraisers and some of the same stuff we do.
Amen to that! Back in '93-'94 I didn't realize how much they did until some of my buddies got tapped for that job and I wound up helping them occasionally. It was fun, but geez did I get reeducated about the work they did. I woke up way earlier than I did for Cut... toting big crates of those cheesy fruit drinks around the loading docks at Duncan in the dark. Packed hundreds of lunches. And full water coolers are HEAVY when you are my size!
I did love getting to slalom through the mud in my donor pickup -- uphill, skidding between trees; ! But then after Cut weekends we spent a lot of time standing in some very cold water to wash every speck of mud off/out of those trucks before we drove them back to the dealers who lent them to Bonfire. I had no idea what all they did, and I was only helping them with part of it. And they put up with people hassling them about "just riding around in trucks all day" (not to mention the tackier slanders). Loading trucks was way more fun, to me! (Hello Kip and any other Walton buddies) But this was fun too, I got to help my good friends (lifelong friends, in fact) and see a different side of Bonfire.
Ahh, memories!!
