Those (of us) who contribute to the AFS got the opportunity to submit answers to a survey and just recently got the results from the marketing department. 23% of the living former students responded, so a good cross-section of Aggies were polled. One thing that sticks out with the results is about Bonfire, and how people responded to the comment "A&M should find a way to restore Bonfire, even though there may be potential legal liabilities".

54% were in "Strong Agreement" while 9% "Strongly Disagree."

Of the 15 comments, the Bonfire one was the only one to get more than 1% of respondants "strongly disagreening".

What do y'all think about that?

How has opinion changed since the 2002 survey?

They didn't post the 2002 survey. That one might have been a little different.

Considering having 10-15% undergraduate participation in Bonfire made for a GREAT year, then having 54% respondants "Strongly Agree" with Bonfire returning "officially" (whatever that means) seems to be an EXTREMELY positive and encouraging result.

And considering that FAR MORE THEN 1% of any class could be considered to "Strongly Disagree" with Bonfire, only having 1% respond as such to the survey is even more encouraging. What is more encouraging about that 1% is that respondants to the survey enjoyed anonymity, which seems to me would invite more negative responses from people afraid to have been counted among those who "Strongly Disagree" when they were Current Students.

Furthermore, I am even more pleased with the 23%. While there were 14 other questions, I am going to ignore them entirely and interpret the response, or lack thereof, of the remaining 77% of all living Former Students as follows:

77% of all living Former Students are of the opinion that Bonfire has already returned to Texas A&M.

If anybody has connections with the Florida Election Commission, please forward this to them as my resume.

You fellas need to fight like hell to return bonfire! Surveys are nice but petitions will work better. Get student names and student I.D. numbers that match. Then turn that list in. Keep fighting for it. I want ya'll to experience what my class did!
