For all of us out here in the real world, are there any reds, greens, browns, yellows, or others that have any updates on this year's bonfire? Locations, new ideas for this year, old Bonfire traditions being brought back, etc.? I'm sure I'll find out from my great, great grandkids come fall, but is there anything ya'll mind sharing now that isn't on the website yet?

Greys turned to Reds.
Non Profit status almost done.
Cut and Burn land secured.
Old cut sites cleaned up.
Stagner's Mom still puts out like a $2 *****.
See www.studentbonfire.com for more on dates and cut info.

She's still around. She did a brief stint at the Bunny Ranch, but they ran her off after a few customers complained about the donkey. HBO refuses to air the episode of Cathouse featuring her due to the projectile vomiting it incited in initial screenings.

Her midget gimp died a few months ago of a rare case of gonaherpacyphalaids. The Houston Chronicle ran a short story on it where Stagner's Mom was quoted, saying "He was delicious."

She was last seen working the streets in North Houston a few weeks ago wearing a shirt that says "bring your own flour."

You may only be concerned about Bonfire for a couple years, and maybe that’s why you have that attitude. You should think and do what's best for Bonfire's long-term future.

I really hope this isn't directed at me...

They wouldn't have built an oil pump/storage area on the site if it wasn't safe. You are the only one driving paranoia right now. In short, simmer down. Stack in it's current design (IS PROFESSIONALLY ENGINEERED AND EXTREMELY STOUT).

Just like the pine and burn bans last year, the mud in '04, the wind (and Tom) in '03, and the bazillion hurdles in '02; '06 will encounter challenges, adapt, and overcome.

Talk to the JRPs and your other "members" about this shiit. Don't post this BS on texags.

Hmmm... This site has been a God-send for (A)SB. When we needed $3,500 to pay for fines, who paid for all of it? Texags people. When we needed some advice about event planning, who was there to lift an experienced voice? Texags. In it's infancy, where did we go to spread the word about Bonfire? Texags.

I can't count the number of times where something like (SITE SELECTION) or pine trees has come up on this board, only to evoke a professional in geology or forestry and produced a solution. If anything, I would suggest putting more out here for a discerning eye. I distinctly remember someone making comments about the burn ban many months before the injunction and, had the leadership listened to that advice, (A)SB would be $3500 heavier in the pocket book.

When I have a good idea, a big proposal, or an activity to plan; I make darned sure to bounce it off of the guys in my office to see what they think about it first. Their experience is priceless and crutial to the success of whatever I am doing. Treat Texags the same.

in the future, remember that http://forums.studentbonfire.com/ exists. You can rip each other a new one there if you;d like to do so and all away from the prying eyes of texags.

And Stack might be a bit more like Ol' Army if you have to slog through the mud to do it.

That said, let's Build The Hell Outta (A)SB '06!

You are right on, lets not repeat the ground quality error or make it look like we are.

The bigger error was the culture of SSBS and refusing to solicit and listen to outside opinions, which you are already repeating.

Wasn't there a promo video made for sending out FSA clubs? Did that ever get done? I think if they saw footage from cut, stack and burn they would be more inclined to support ASB.

I was up in Indianapolis and tried bringing it up. Most were not interested. They didn't really know much about what is going on in Aggieland and didn't think much of or didn't know about ASB.

Now, I hope for the sake of a lot of people that you address the issue that you've now deleted, and make good decisions based on it.

Make Good Decisions

A whole lot of very smart people want to help this group. Some are engineers, some are donors, some understand the courtroom of public opinion, some have no attachment other than their opinion, which is more valid than many others because they represent how this group is seen from the outside.

The Aggie "outside looking in..." quote should be the FARTHEST thing ever associated from Bonfire again. People should be able to prod this thing with every fine toothed comb they have. Quite frankly, ASB has to strive for perfection, not adequacy, to stay as safe as it HAS to be.

First off I'll say thank you everybody for editing your posts.

Yes, both cut and burn sites have been acquired. Prep work has begun on both sites. We have spent the last few weekends working on both. And yes, WE WILL BE CUTTING OAK.

SSBS aside, so far, I have been very impressed with the JRP's desire to get both sites ready to go. These efforts, in my opinion, have been very productive in getting ready for the fall.

As per the above issue, the JRP's are aware of the situation and are addressing the problem. I cannot speak for the Reds and JRP's, but I will listen to your concerns and suggestions and I will try to pass those along. My contact information is in my profile.

Yes, all the SSBS is frustrating to deal with. Pride is often involved with a lot of decisions concerning bonfire. Let's try to keep that to a minimum and focus on making decisions with Bonfire's best interest in mind. The last thing that ASB needs to do is alienate the former students. They are just as important as any Redpot, Brownpot, Fish, or Zip. So, thank you for your continued support and advice.

I look forward to seeing everyone out at first cut...It's going to be fun year.

Thanks and Gig 'em

This is all I'll say about this...

It is not in Student Bonfire's best interest to alienate the former students. However, some of the thing that the former students hold onto are completely unsafe and now unacceptable at Bonfire. This may turn some people against us, but it is currently in Bonfire's best interest to disassociate itself from the unsafe "traditions" that went on at cut and stack.

Basically, come Bonfire '06...if it's unnecessary, it's not going to happen. Safety is our ultimate goal.

Can anyone tell me if there is a cut on Sunday, October 15th? The calendar on the student bonfire site isn't working. Also, can someone put me in touch with the Schuhmacher Crew?

3B Paul,

15th is a go, unless I'm misinformed.

Email me at xxxxxxxxxxx and I can get you the email address of the '06 HHH crew chiefs. Don't feel right posting them without permission.
