This photo is from my Grandfather's 1928 A&M annual

Just so we remember how old this tradition is.

That's not Kyle. It's Simpson Drill Field.

Just made me realize that small or large, media or no media (news), or location it is our tradition to love and uphold.

My sons' are 4 and 5 years old and I just hope that one day they can experience it the way I did (loading, building, and burning).

I truly miss the way it used to be but I strongly encourage those aggies currently working on it to keep it alive. It will return as an great annual tradition but we need to give it time. Never forget the 12.

RIP my Bonfire Brothers.

Could you elaborate? I'm curious about what in particular you miss that isn't being done by SB. Thanks.

I'm guessing for starters:

  • Not on campus
  • Not with the band
  • Not with the football team/coach

But that's just a guess.

Yeah, those are the obvious. I was trying to spark some stories/memories of your Bonfire experiences.

Well, it is a shock seeing a bonfire this small. But what the hey, my last bonfire on campus was the tallest ever. About three times taller than the current 35' jobs. Sigh. Now those were some big Bonfires. And some really good times.
