Aggie student bonfire will burn this November, but not in Brazos County.

In September, Brazos County Judge Randy Sims said the students missed the deadline for submitting paperwork.

But, this setback did not stop the students. The off-campus organization, Student Bonfire, is setting up the bonfire in Robertson County.

"We're actually building in the same place that we're cutting this year and that has proven to be a more suitable site for our stack site," Jack Shallock, Texas A&M Student and Senior Red Pot said.

About 1,000 students are involved in building the structure that has been a long-time tradition.

Finially some good press.

Well, some non-negative press I suppose.

The video clip, as well as the story, quotes the Robertson County Judge expressing concerns about alcohol usage.

People have long-term memories around here. Before the 1999 tragedy, the biggest concern about Bonfire was alcohol.

Both stories credit the students with resolve to prohibit alcohol usage at Bonfire. I suppose the community remains skeptical.

The two mentions of the failure to get the permits done or w/e kinda sucks too.

For the record, the move to Robertson County was not due to "failing" to get permits filed or missed deadlines. The proper arrangements were in place for a Brazos County event if a suitable location had been found in Brazos County. Unfortunately no such location was secured.

An excellent point that should be made in the right way the next time an authorized representative of SB talks to the media.

No kidding, that article sure makes it look like that's the reason.

Hence the reason only certain people should be allowed to talk to the media...

Jack does not fit under that category of certain people.

To whoever reads this...the media will pick apart whatever you say to use it for their benifit...they are, afterall, a business...in business to make money by giving the public the story that the media thinks should be given. KBTX does not care that there was a whole 2 months of events between Simms slandering SB and the move to the Pin Oak location...they just know that they have an easy, seemingly contiguous story, and they can get "offical representatives" to comment.

one last time...If the media approaches you about Bonfire, DO NOT SAY A WORD!
