Dont know if this has been posted, but there was a brief story about the bonfire on one of the fox news updates. There will probably be another in about a half hour or so i believe. Just caught the tail end of it, and didnt see what was being said.

Uma said that Bonfire had moved to an adjacent county because the organizers could not secure the permits in Brazos County.

Good job, Ags!

This is about as wrong as the information could have been.

Thats what i heard on the local news last night. As i understand now, it was because of convenience of having cut/bonfire at the same place.

Is this correct?

yes,

by saving on the cost of transporting the bottom line cost is decreased.

by having the Cut & Stack locations close, communication between the two is very readily facilitated. Leadership can also easily swtich efforts from Cut to Stack and back again in the same day

by saving time loading/unloading, more time & effort can be put into cutting & stacking, which makes a larger fire.

by having to clear the land of stumps and roots to have a Stack Site, the last (and hardest) part of the job will already be mostly done...that is removing the stumps and roots.

it also saves the cost of transporting the logs. even though gas isn't as costly as it was a few months ago... it would still add up

Sorry if my post infered that I thought SB had somehow messed up. I was trying to relay what was reported on the news.

By saying "Good job, Ags" what I was trying to convey is that I am very proud of all of you involved in keeping Bonfire alive. Again, if I offended anyone, I apologize.

I read it both ways...

neither one was offensive, but I'm doing my best to make sure the correct story is out. KBTX was the original to run that story, and it makes it sound like SB accidentally missed a very important deadline for them...

while in reality, it was a deadline that was actually quite controversial, and turned out not to matter.

It is similar to the letter you get before you graduate, from the office of the registrar. The one that says "you must show proof of enrollment for any credits you are taking by corespondance that are required for graduation." It gives you a deadline to turn in the proof, but if you do not have a corespondance class, then you intentionally ignore the information because it does not apply to you.
