There are some people on this board that everytime I see their screen name this is what I picture:

waa-waa

Enough already. Go pretend to be an athiest on the R&P board or something else equally pointless.

Those of y'all young'uns and old farts still participating and keeping the traditions alive I wish you nothing but success.

BTHOB

Even if it burns in EL Paso I'll make the trip.

What Bonfire is being held in El Paso? Well at least I-10 should be able to handle the traffic, though the gas bill will be a killer.

I totally agree with you Sesh. What is funny is that I read the R&P board and thought that it would be a great place for the select few.

Good Call!

ps - I miss the good 'ole SNL characters. I haven't watched the new season but will give it a chance.

Great Post!

You know I was reading the Texas Monthly article on A&M and Gates discussed how vehemently opposed to change A&M was and how change was a neccessary thing. You guys and your insistance to shun me and any new crazy ideas isn't going to make tomorrow not come. Bonfire is inherantly a conservative tradition, but like all things, it will change, and it must change.

You guys can say what you will about me, and I don't care. If this is the way you react to new ideas being tossed out there that you don't agree with, that's fine. I'm not out to change your mind. Have a good day y'all and BTHO ou!

All of this has really shed light on the belief a lot of people have about the narrow-mindedness here. Not narrow-minded in the sense that if you don't agree with me, you suck and I'm gonna call you a crybaby <ahem>. Rather, narow-minded in the sense that *gasp* there are actually people out their that think differently than you and your friends do.

I don't see anything in there about change. Maybe thats why they call it a tradition.

A&M is well known as a conservative, tradtion rich school, you don't like it go somewhere else. (I personally came here for those 2 reasons.) That may be a little close minded but....

I personally don't mind change when change is brought about by way of culture changing. That being said when change is shoved down my throat, I'm told I need to move on or get a life and that I'm stupid for wanting to keep things like they are I WILL get a little defensive.

For some reason I get the impression this isin't the case.

As if this hasn't been pounded into the ground. BONFIRE HAS MADE CHANGES, it isin't 100% like it was pre '99. Why can you and everybody else not understand this? After all...

worked on it for 2 years. Not super involved, but all in all I'd go out and say...10 cuts and 12-15 stacks?

So if you were paying attention in any way durring any of those time you were "out" then you should have noticed that.

Just because tradition is the passing down of culture does not mean it doesn't entail change. Resisting change is merely being stubborn. Everything changes, and everything has to change, whether you like it or not. Just because I'm for change doesn't mean I don't like A&M, that's one of the oldest and worst in the book. Maybe you would enjoy being in the corps living in a tent with no girls in miles and miles? When did anybody force that change down your throat? Lastly, because I was out for 2 years and have the exposure I do to it now, and unfortunately have listened to a good number of you and the way you view others, I do realize it needs change.

I love when people say A&M is a conservative school and if you don't like that you can go somewhere else. Talk about that family environment and that spirit can never be told...

Nobody told you you were stupid and you needed to get a life if you didn't accept the change they proposed. If they did, I'm sorry they did that to you, I'm sure you're old enough to know that is never the case. However, I've heard time and time again how I need to get a life and how stupid I am because I realize the need for some things to be different.

Just because Bonfire is different than it was doesn't mean it doesn't need to continue evolving, I hate to be a debbie downer again, but the attendance at Burn this year will show you that. I'm not gonna say "I told you so" but I am gonna hope you and everybody else realizes that some changes need to change in an effort to include everybody.

People responding like defensive jerks everytime they disagree with something is getting old. Shark, to you I apoligize for the time I snapped at you, everybody else, it would be great if you could just make your point and have it be strong enough to go on its on.

Square -

I find it really funny that you immediately knew this was you. SHouldn't that tell you something? You will argue that you are not negative but realistic, but YOUR reality is such a downer. I used to love jumping back into the forum every now and then, but it is flooded by your negative outlook. When I say flooded, how many posts did you make just in the night time alone? I think you treat the forum like an instant messenger program and it shows.

In all seriousness, the forum is not about pointing out flaws and putting down people. Maybe this type of negative spirit is not what people are interested in listening to. You have made a name for yourself here and it is unfortunate that because of this, your voice won't be heard. You may have fabulous ideas, but if no one wants to listen to them...

I personally don't find any value in the the Bonfire forum the way it is. People try to create meaningful threads and then they are ruined.

I hope that maybe you find a better hobby or a super hot girlfriend who thinks that your every waking second should be spent obsessing over her!

Go get 'em Tiger!

Does this make it perfect or immune to criticism?

And Sesh, I'm not sure why you felt the need to bring my religion into this, but I can assure you my beliefs actually are my beliefs.

I believe the connection that was being made was that if I have a dissenting view of Bonfire I might as well go be an atheist?

NOAC, thanks for making that point about immunity too.

Slow down there buddy, I wasn't singling you out. I'm all about people's freedom to believe or not believe whatever they want and I wasn't thinking about you when I posted my original comment. Hell, I'm agnostic at best most of the time. I was merely pointing out (in a humorous fashion)the futility of some of the comments made in the past few weeks and a desire by some posters just to pick at the same wounds ad nauseum.

And for the record I'm not closed minded or opposed to change. Calling ME conservative is like calling GWB a democrat. Bringing about change and waiting by your keyboard everyday just to p*ss in everyone's cheerios are 2 very different things.

So why did you bring up religion?
jb5357
How long do you want to ignore this user?
the religion was not the key point to those comments, but the fact the atheist comments in r&p would be just as productive as some comments in this board have been
