How long do you want to ignore this user?
What is the schedule for burn? I'm coming in from Houston on Tuesday and bringing several people with me who normally wouldn't go to Bonfire and I want to know what time we need to be out there. Also are there going to be former Yell Leaders and or Former BQ's out there?
Thanks,

Its almost always a former yell leader(has been when ive seen it) leading yell, and im shure there will be dead q's(probably live ones to but i know nothing about that....)

If your asking about dead Q's playing, ive been trying to find enough to do that for almost a year, and have turned up empty.

It has directions in the margins...

so one only has to print a single page.

5$ per person to go to bonfire.
5$ per vehicle to park in shuttle lot.
10$ per vehicle to park in lot at site.

At least SB is raising money...

Encourages carpooling.

Discourages parking at site.

Justifying the prices doesn't make them any more appealing to people who have to pay 10-15 bucks to go. For students, it will only cost around 5 bucks, but say...Ag class of 92 comes in with his wife and 2 kids and doesn't wanna ride the bus. That'll be 30 bucks.

SquareOne07 - burn is ASB's primary source of revenue. Charging $5 for admission is relatively modest. A good portion of the parking fees would go to the land/lot owners whose property is being used, I imagine.

In the real world, parking for any sort of event is almost never free.

I find the fees to be quite reasonable, 5$ for myself and 2$ for parking onsite, I dont see carpooling being unreasonable.

square is just trolling though and I dont know why I bother answering.

The price would be the least of my worries right now. It sucks that students who actually WORK on Bonfire have to pay to watch it burn, but it not a whole lot and definately pretty cheap for us former students.

Yes, it is a shame that SB can't put on a free show, but without the University providing the lights, parking, stack site, etc., those expenses have to be covered somehow. The costs are kept as modest as possible, and to my eye don't appear as unreasonable.
SquareOne07

I'm not saying the prices are out of this world or anything, it's just a bummer, that's all. I understand that these prices have to be there, just saying it's a bummer.

Just to be clear bgrimm, those who paid the $5 membership DO NOT have to pay again to get in. They'll have to pay parking, but their admission is covered with their membership.

The memberships are necessary due to the way the organization has to be set up to be a non-profit. My understanding is that a business such as this requires memberships. $5 seemed like a good number to settle on when it was all hashed out.

I have connections to several former BQ's who would be interested in playing at Bonfire (my dad being one of them), but when my husband offered to help organize this about a year ago he was told "We don't want help from former students." I guess I don't get that...

I'd like to know where that came from. That's about as far from the SB stance as you can get. I'm sure your husband won't remember who told him that, that's not what I'm after. If he is really interested, please have him ask again or leave us some contact info and someone will get in touch.

Thanks

If someone from the Class of '92 can't afford $30, then they have other problems. The people that wanted to go did. I'm not sure if you wanted to but maybe you should also start a thread about how the cost of a night at the movies is also excessive.

Umm...not so much. I know many people who wanted to go and have been to the last 4 fires, but couldn't go to this one, myself included.

Yeah, we talked about you last night in fact, why couldn't you make it again? I did notice a bigger Corps group, I'm assuming that is because it wasn't on Saturday.

True. In recent years it's been a cat-and-mouse game with the Trigon invoking CQ.
