As I watched the first reports from Vtech, of the first shooting, then the gradually increasing realization of the horror as I could check the news at lunch and after school, as I drove home to the tv, and then sat in front of it watching the panic, hurt, bravery--

That scar was not quite as healed as I thought.


The pain is real again.


My prayers are with the VTech family. We as Aggies KNOW their pain, we have felt it before, and now we feel it again.

I had blocked most of that week and the week after from my mind until now. Now, I can remember almost everything about those two weeks. My roommate barging in telling me in the morning that stack fell. Calling my parents telling them I was alright. Going to the site and holding a friend who knew one of the twelve. The wind in my face as I was looking at the pile of logs. Walking around campus and feeling the lack of life, heart and spirit. The memorial service. The candlelight in darkened Kyle. The cannon. While I could give you details of every other game I went to at Kyle, I can not remember a thing from that one. To be honest, I don't want to. The memories of everything else are more important.

The sheer silence of the grief--as for days crowds visited the site and left those reminders--but the silence was tangible.

Seeing the Memorial Service and Candlelight service really brought back everything from '99. It was all too familiar.

I too was affected in the same way by the VT shooting.

Amazing Grace has had a totally different meaning for me since that night in Reed Arena.

All this time...and the emotion is still just beneath the surface. Until this week.

We all said we would remember.
