Howdy,
Our student organization was considering a Memorial Fundraiser Golf Tournament to benefit and raise funds for the construction of the Bonfire Memorial Visitor Center. This would take place in October on a Sunday after a home game, or on an away game weekend. I wanted some feedback on interest in this tournament. We would have prizes for coming out, and possibly a Million Dollar Shootout event as well. We are working in conjunction with other student organizations to coordinate a cookoff as well.

What do you think?
Should we firm up plans and go forward?

We cirlced this idea back in 2000, but nothing ever happened besides talk due to the process of setting up a 501c3 to collect/distribute funds and the little time we had left in BCS.

This is a great idea and could turn into a really big deal; I hope you have experience w/ a fundraiser golf tournaments or are planning to put someone who does in charge.

If you make it happen, I can scratch together at least 3 and maybe 5 teams.

We have now narrowed down to two event dates. October 5th and October 28. The former is Friday before the OSU game, the latter is the Sunday after the KU game. Let us know your opinions and thoughts.

Friday the 5th

An excellent idea.
If a Bonfire Golf Tournament gets kicked off, you will see a lot of old Ags like myself show up. Shoot for keeping it simple for the first year or two and it will only get better.

Friday (after lunch) is more feasible and it would be more fun before the game. Old Ags get tired on Sunday. I will already circle that Friday on my calendar when I get to work on Monday just in case.

We have officially set and reserved a tournament date for Oct. 5, based on emails from supporters, sponsors, and players. We do have a tournament limit of 120 players, so sign up ASAP! Our organization is currently building a website to accommodate online registration. You can always email me at bcs.chair@gmail.com to confirm a reservation. This year we will be hosting a BBQ during and after the event, as well as a putting contest and hole-in-one prizes!

We are also currently selling sponsorships for holes, so anyone interested in sponsoring a hole will recieve a custom sign on a tee box. Contact me for the sponsorship forms.

How much is a hole sponsorship?

Sponsorships can be anywhere from $50, depending on if you wanted a tee sign. I believe they are charging us $25 for those. Send me your email at bcs.chair@gmail.com and I'll send you an application, also the website will most likely be up at the end of this week, so everyone can go there and print out sponsorships, etc.

Talked to the Kerlees last night. This was the first that we had heard of the fundraiser. You need to get this posted on the Aggieland board for sure.
