KBTX has a story about a ruling today that A&M cannot be sued. (as I read it)

quote:
The Appeals Court ruled the university is, in fact, covered by sovereign immunity, an argument which failed in the 361st.

Zachry Construction Corporation, the Texas Aggie Bonfire Committee and Scott-Macon Limited made claims against A&M after those groups were sued by the families of those affected by the collapse.

Those three groups will have to pay the costs of the appeal, with Zachry picking up 50 percent and the other two each responsible for 25 percent.

Texas A&M may be breathing easier, but with Zachry taking half responsibility it will become harder to find folks willing to help while a threat of liability lingers.

...we'll see.

So, what's left, lawsuit-wise?

That 50% was referring to the court costs for the appeal. I think Zachary et all are still mired in the other lawsuits.

I assume the blood sucking attorneys will try to file a lawsuit against Exxon for making the gasoline that was used to power the vehicles and chain saws. Oh my gosh. They will also sue the chain saw manufacturer and the local distributor.

Have you no honor?

Watch it Houston. I don't think anyone here is pointing fingers at any parents involved in the lawsuits, regardless of there feelings on the subject, and that comment cuts really close to pointing that finger. With this subject, agree disagree or otherwise, it's better to tread lightly and tactfully in my opinion

08. I disagree. We are each entitled to our opinion. There was no basis for legal action against the University or the vendors supplying equipment. This is for sure classic ambulance chasing in the worst case. The courts will eventually render the best decision, I hope, but not with liberal judges.
