I came across a verse where Jesus explained why He came per our recent discussions

Luke 4:43
But He said "I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent".

With this and the proclamation from Isaiah, Jesus clearly states why He was sent.

So easy and simple, but in my experience, rarely preached.

I'm not sure how anyone could take issue with this, unless you are claiming that Jesus didn't also come to: seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10); fulfill the law and prophets (Matt. 5:17); do the Father's will (John 6:38); testify of the truth (John 18:37); save the world (John 12:47); give His life as a ransom for many (Matt. 20:28).

He states very clearly that He came to do all of those things as well.

Agree. It just never was emphasized much in the churches I have attended that the Kingdom of God is here. Now.

Seems like I was taught more about what Jesus did for us after we die which is great. Never seemed to have focused on how fulfilling this life could be if we are in harmony with Him.

Yeah, I'd say that has been my experience as well, and it probably played a pretty big role in why it took me so long to finally get to know Jesus.

Great point Doc! Our gratitude and love for all that He does for us in this life should be our focus daily (and one I struggle with when I let the anxieties of the day overwhelm me). Its when I stop and look at all of the blessings he's giving me now and realizing his presence, that the anxieties fade. We also tend to look to people sometimes to make our lives more fulfilling now when the only person we should focus on is Christ.

Side thought. I think it's because as believers we often get pigeon holed or buy into frameworks to understand scripture vs taking in the whole council of the entirety of scriptures.

For example: There's a view that the kingdom is now and only now and Revelation is in the past and not the future (Preterism or partial preterism). And there's the view that there's a specific kingdom and future reign of Christ on earth.

Is there a middle ground and a "both-and" vs an "either-or"

At Jesus coming is the invitation to participate in a future kingdom started and at a future point be in full effect?

'Your kingdom come (it's not quite here yet).
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
