He's been sick most of this year, was hospitalized several months ago, and is now hospitalized with critical case of pneumonia. Its uncertain if he'll survive or not, but praying for him and his family.

He had mentioned that he didn't think he had much time left. Prayers for him, I admit that at times I would get irritated with him because I did not agree with him but I cannot possibly question the impact he's had for the Kingdom. I pray he will recover if it's God's will and I'm thankful for his contribution to my own spiritual knowledge.

My sentiments exactly. And prayers for healing.

Truly a man who knew Jesus, loved him, and loved his flock. One of the great Bible teachers and Christian theologians of our generation.

I love that. Thanks.
And it is very comforting with the flood tragedy. I know exactly where Mary Grace is.

RIP. I believe he was suffering for much of the past year with illnesses/infirmity.
Quote:

The Legacy He Leaves

Pastor MacArthur has now joined the great cloud of witnesses. But his voice continues in the hearts of his congregation, in the pastors he trained, in the books he wrote, and in the lives transformed by his unswerving commitment to the Word.

For those of us at Protestia, his death is personal. Our own commitment to discernment, polemics, and the defense of the faith was shaped in no small part by his example. We wrote in his defense not because he was above critique, but because he was so often falsely maligned for standing where others refused to.

We thank God for the gift of John MacArthur. His race is run. His fight is finished. And now, he hears the words we all long to hear:

"Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your master."

I bet the first thing he does is find out who was right between him and Sproul on baptism. Always enjoyed the back and forth between those two.

Exactly what my wife and I said last night. I may have to listen to their "debate" today.

And he and Sproul are laughing about it now in the presence of Jesus.
Rest in Peace John Macarthur.

A Reformed dispensationalist. A great example of how you can't categorize everyone's theology.

That said, I hope his first job in heaven is to complete all of Beth Moore's Bible studies, and then translate them into Greek for John Piper and David Jeremiah.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

I don't think the God who inspired 1 Timothy will be very likely to have Ol' Joker Face's studies in his heavenly library
