Presidential Message

Quote:

Today, I recognize every American celebrating December 8 as a Holy Day honoring the faith, humility, and love of Mary, mother of Jesus and one of the greatest figures in the Bible.
On the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Catholics celebrate what they believe to be Mary's freedom from original sin as the mother of God. She first entered recorded history as a young woman when, according to Holy Scripture, the Angel Gabriel greeted her in the village of Nazareth with news of a miracle: "Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you," announcing that "you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus."...

I do not recall any president making any proclamations related to the Immaculate Conception like this.

I know Trump is not Catholic, but is Melania?

Say what you want about him, but I think his honoring of the Mother of Jesus in his role as the Leader of this Nation is very positive.
People of integrity expect to be believed, when they're not, they let time prove them right.

My understanding is yes, she's Catholic and it seems to have had some impact on him, and I'm glad.

Trump's finest moment in his two terms as President:

He keeps knocking them out of the park!

The other day at a bible study I was leading at the Senior home, I mentioned the verse, isaiah 11:1, that a shoot would sprout from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of its roots. In Hebrew, "nazer" means branch, and Jesus was raised in NAZER - eth, which fulfilled the prophecy. However, i said that "a shoot would sprout from the "Trump" of Jesse, by mistake..We all had a good laugh...

How anyone could still take anything of a religious sort serious from Donald Trump is beyond me.

The man would probably burst into flame if touched by holy water.

God can make the rocks cry out. TBH, I'd rather listen to rocks than Donald Trump, but you get my point, I suppose.

As Trump is the subject of the thread and of schmendeler's post, should we be concerned about who 'the Almighty' refers to?

I don't know if the almighty could be someone who naps during meetings as much as Trump.

Even with all of his flaws, Trump is more Catholic than our last supposed Catholic president.

No concern is warranted. "The man" obviously refers to Mr. Trump as the subject of the last sentence. And this sentence hypothesizes the subject's reaction towards contact with holy water (the object). Elementary logic should lead us to conclude that such a negative reaction to said object would not be due to the power of the subject, and thus would be external to the subject of this sentence.

I just roll my eyes when his staff posts things like that. Red meat for a fraction of his followers no doubt.

What a preposterous thing to say.

You must not have been paying attention for Biden's term.

Yeaaa, Prez Trump needs Jesus.

He's a business man, so sure he can maybe outline and smooth talk some high points of different doctrine, but I am surely praying for salvation on his end.
