This newly posted video is one of the most comprehensive ones I've seen on the tragic Luby"s shooting in Killeen, TX. At the time, the restaurant was a gun free zone and numerous law abiding gun owners inside the establishment were rendered helpless. This shooting propelled self-defense legislation within the State of Texas.

Yep. Suzanna Gratia Hupp championed concealed carry legislation because her parents were killed that day. I know several who were there or who lost family members that day. I grew up near Fort Hood. Many lives were forever changed.

* I know Suzanna is not your friend, but I know who your friend is.

This was the incident that compelled a lot of people to simply ignore "gun free zones."

If you carry concealed no one will be the wiser.

I believe TX gun laws even state if you use your weapon in a legal shoot situation, its a defense to prosecution for carrying illegally in a gun free zone. I believe this came as a result of the Lubys incident and the girl who lost her parents.

Florida is one of the 4 most restrictive states in the USA in this regard, along with Illinois, California, and New York ...

So, true. I have also heard a variation of that phrase. " Better to be judged by tweleve than carried by six "
The message is clear with all the phrases " YOU, are responsible for your own safety " !!!

I dated a girl for a year or so at A&M whose mother was there, she survived but its impact on her was terrible. Really nice family.

It sucks that we're always reactive. There should've been no gun free zones. We should've been encouraging law abiding citizens to carry. This tragedy could've been avoided.

Joe Biden was a key author of the Gun Free Zones Act in 1990. Never forget that he is one of the reasons school shootings happen, and children are helpless to protect themselves.

Yeah, but at that time, people really couldn't grasp that someone would do something so heinous. Yes, the sniper at UT shot a lot of people years before, but Luby's was many years after that, and before Columbine and other notable attacks. A mass shooting just wasn't on people's radar.

The mother of one of my Corps buddies was murdered there.

Back in those days, communication wasn't as instant as it is today.

Crazy to think that we were playing an Intramural volleyball game while his mother was being killed and I don't think we found out about it until the next morning.

I was in high school there during this. Lots of friends moms and dads dead. Very tough time.
