With the Democrat winning in TX recently, the House Majority is down to 1 vote. 218-214.

It is ridiculous what the Republican party is so discombobulated. And it is looking likely that House will flip in 2026 elections, if not before if Republicans keep on losing members.

If GOP loses majority in 2026 look for all the ridiculous impeachment and investigations.

Actions have consequences.

Trump does some great things and he does some equally boneheaded things. The boneheaded things are what will cost the GOP and ultimately create a large swing the other way when the Dems have power again.

the "democrat winning in TX" was the replacement for Sylvester turner/sheila Jackson lee's seat. It's an extremely heavy democrat district.

not a place to use as a predictor on how the fall might go. Has nothing to do with Trump

But this is my point about Rand over in the Senate. When he's so stuck in his own self righteous superiority he often breaks ranks with the Republicans because he doesn't like this or that in a bill. The result, a "NO" vote on the greater Republican/MAGA agenda, is a vote for the Dems agenda.

I don't think so.
Many independents are so happy seeing our country deport the criminal illegals. Crime rates are dropping nationwide and people are Noticing. The Financial Fraud in Minnesota by the Somali immigrants and others around the country is a Huge story. People are tired of these fuzzy little foreigners Stealing their Tax Dollars.

Independents are also seeing the Terrible job done by many of the limp wristed Democrat Soy Boys like Walz, Newsome, Mandami, and even the Nashville Mayor recently. Everyone realizes that these Progressive Liberal Democrats have no common sense, and can't run a government.

Many Independents are happy to Make America Great Again.

It's all about the purple districts. There aren't many left. The GOP has been running psychopath far right candidates in a lot of these districts instead of middle the road types that could actually win. 2022 and 2024 were a lesson in candidate selection more than anything. They lost a gerrymandered red Ohio seat because the guy running as the GOP candidate was a complete whack job. The only reason the GOP won a majority in 2022 was because they ran good moderate candidates in California and New York purple districts who were able to flip some seats.

The Democrat aligned PACs have done a good job of interfering in some GOP primaries to make sure the wackadoodles get nominated.

Republicans bear the blame. They're doing nothing but playing defense. They're not helping Trump enact his agenda at all. They clearly do not want to be the majority.

Democrats move the ball forward in the minority and they move the ball forward in the majority. They band together and get terrible things done to the country. Republicans suck.

Well, you also have Thomas Massie so you can subtract that seat from the GOP column.

This is because the majority of both parties are lazy and the extremists and activists now dominate primaries enough to put in ridiculous candidates that are weak competitors when it comes to getting a general majority. It's stupid and self defeating.

One thing that the media consistently overlooks (because it doesn't fit with their preferred narrative) is that, now that the right half of the electorate contains a bunch of low propensity voters, you can pretty consistently expect Republicans to underperform in non-presidential years, the way that Democrats used to 20 or 30 years ago. All the purple haired women who live on their TDS outrage are going to the polls every time, and black people (the most consistent D voting group) now usually turn out better than working class whites. It's just baked into the cake and there's not much that can be done about it.

At this point what difference does it, in fact, make?

Democrats are:
- better funded
- have a very detailed and cohesive strategy
- work in union as one block with few stragglers
- have the media in their propaganda arsenal
- have an army of Useful Idiots at their disposal
- have control of most branches of government from the neck down
- have control of most educational institutions from Pre-K through PhD
- have a myriad of favorable regulations in place
- have a widely deployed army of politically active progressive judges who rule from the bench
- a willingness to shove things through while having a majority
- have patience

What do the Republicans have?
- less funding
- division in the ranks
- no cohesive offensive strategy
- no counter strategy (defensive) to the above
- hyper-individualism at every level
- no signs of willingness to shove things through while having a majority.

So, in sports or business, which team wins?

I remember laughing at the fake cardboard cutout city the North Koreans built on the South Korean border when I first learned of it. Now I think of it as "Republican Strategy City."

There is almost always a 'rubber band' effect with midterms, and it's almost always given way too much credence and used to make unfounded predictions/generalizations.

Yeah just go thru the major U.S. airports to understand the difference. A Democrat run city like Houston or San Francisco will have DEI employees " Cleaning " the facilities. It will be run down and the restrooms will be Filthy. Poorly managed and supervised, including the area roadways and entire property. Filthy.

A city like Salt Lake will have employees actually cleaning and doing their job. The facility will be well run, clean, and efficient.

Salt Lake is deep blue. The Legislature and governor manage to keep Salt Lake from becoming Portland lite. But even a looney mayor understands you can't mess with a successful business model, especially when her husband is a local real estate type.

They aren't doing anything with the majority anyway. They should have already passed bills eliminating any funding to NGOs, voter ID, only counting Americans and legal citizens in the census, eliminating all Biden climate change BS, etc., etc. Doesn't matter if doesn't pass the Senate, the House GOP is failing badly and not doing their job and not following up to enact what POTUS ran on and the majority of Americans voted for.

Approval ratings from independents has dropped from around 50% to the mid-30s.

They don't perceive any economic improvement in their daily lives and they don't like the way ICE is handling business. They don't give **** about Minnesota fraud, Newsome or Mandami , GDP, Unemployment or inflation stats or anyone or anything that they don't see as directly impacting them. They want to see insurance rates drop and less chaos and Republicans aren't delivering either.

Likewise they discount all of the good things Trump has done in foreign affairs. It doesn't help things for Trump when he hints about taking over other countries or invading Greenland or any of his other blustering techniques he uses in negotiating because the media portrays them as things he's literally planning on doing.

Like the rest of the population many independents are dumb as rocks and don't understand how much worse things would be with the dems in charge.

We spent a couple late night hours at the Houston IAH airport last year while HPD and the other idiots working there tried to find out where our terminal parked car had been towed to. The offices there had Dozens of "Employees" just goofing off and doing Nothing. It reminded me of a high school cafeteria but with adults just playing around. Definitely not doing any work, just being there and Getting a paycheck. I now understand why it's always so Filthy…

Rand has never killed legislation that mattered but he has helped to make some legislation more conservative that otherwise wouldn't have been. Guys like him actually look into these bills and point out the insanity, kind of like how Massie or Roy get blasted but they are the ones that were pointing out the perils of the Covid bills when everyone else was just going along or they point out the red flags on gun control legislation. They understand how the game is played by the Dems and that the devil is in the details. Did I like Paul going on 60 minutes to talk about ICE? Hell no, completely disagreed with him. Still at least his problem is having principles.

What has been disastrous is the RINOs like Murkowski that are actually just Democrats that hate conservative principles but do just enough to get re-elected and cut deals with leadership to vote on things that should be no brainers for any conservative but in exchange they get help to get re-elected. Folks like Thune that would actually be happier being Minority Leader where he would have all the trappings of the nice offices and lifestyle but wouldn't actually have any pressure to do anything other than to be a roadblock on occasion.

Yet they do a great job convincing many conservatives to attack conservatives instead of actually going after the real problem of these RINOs that spend 30 plus years in DC and Chair the committees and dominate leadership.
