This will go down in history as one of the worst medical scandals of all time. Adults inside and outside the medical profession sold troubled young people like Varian the idea that all of their complex trauma would be resolved by removing healthy body parts.

As more and more detransitioners arrive in court, the public will learn the full extent of the harm done to kids in the name of an ideology. Clinicians performing these 'treatments' will go down in history as barbarous activists who betrayed a sacred oath: to do no harm. But we should never forget how many people outside the medical profession urged these young people on, gleefully assuring them that anyone advising caution was an evil bigot. There are people in elitist professions like publishing and academia, not to mention politicians and celebrities with young fan bases, who did all they could to champion the idea of gender identity, and kept pushing it even as the evidence of harm mounted. They're just as culpable as the clinicians. Too lazy to think more deeply than the fashionable mantras that got them social media likes, too arrogant to look at evidence from anyone outside their political bubble, they've slurred whistleblowers and attacked anyone with valid questions. In doing so, they've created a cultural climate without which this appalling tragedy could not have taken place.

The lie that not transitioning might lead to suicide is going to be the easiest legal path for the early lawsuits in this industry. Saying that denying transition is likely to lead to suicide is simply making stuff up. Scaring parents into submission with the threat of death is incredibly insidious.

There were enough of these mutilating barbarians that relied on that logic to set some early precedents that will create a tidal wave. This could get bad enough that we see a tobacco industry type settlement, where practitioners in the industry have the option to agree to pay some certain amount to be part of one large settlement across the entire industry, any malpractice insurance companies that were backing these procedures go completely bankrupt, and the lawyers involved make lots of money.

The abortion issue depends on when you believe life begins. Many people have a religious belief about this that is well supported by their religion. Without making a religious argument though, people can disagree about when life begins. Not every person is religious. It is helpful to make that distinction.

Your opinion on how evil abortion is depends on the above conclusion.

But there is no question that a 14 year old young lady that has gender dysphoria is a person, and to cut off her breasts is irreversible and evil. There is no excuse. I stand behind my comment that the mutilation of minors is the worst evil that this country has been a part of since slavery.

25 is the last meaningful birthday, because at 25 you can legally rent a car. That might be a good age to set the standard at, and defendable.

18 is too young. If you can't buy tobacco or alcohol, you still have some growing up left to do.

I think that 21 is still to young even, but that position is defendable.

25 would be my preference. Unless we completely banned it, which I am on the fence about.
