To alter the picture of nearly total incompetence which resulted in 12 deaths and massive damage. The mayor is denying this and cites "new" leadership in the Fire Department" (to replace the incompetent leadership she originally promoted?)

What's bad is LA will likely replace her with someone far worse, basically a Mamdani clone.

And it's even more pathetic that almost nothing damaged has been rebuilt yet due to extreme layered permitting requirements

This was my point on a thread a couple of days ago. It's probably what absolutely terrifies me the most about the left. At the local, state, or federal level, the democrat party is electing people based purely on leftist ideology. They don't even consider whether the individual is remotely qualified to do the job. They don't care if they can actually run a city, a county, the Department of Defense, NASA, etc. It's why Florida is booming and California is falling apart. It's why a year after the Palisades fires literally nothing has been done and yet a year after a hurricane in Florida, you wouldn't even know it happened.

Non serious people, electing non serious people, which no real interest in the job itself, only their radical agenda.

If that commie beech will screw over the rich Democrats by leaving them homeless, the working middle class have no chance.

To be somewhat fair, Florida has had more competent leadership for a few decades in setting up their emergency management regime and keep it ready.

Neither LA nor California for that matter, hasn't really had competent leadership since Reagan. (Sorry, Ahhrnold)

They lied about what happened and simultaneously have accomplished nothing with the rebuild.

No republicans in LA to blame, therefore many of them just blame climate change and global warming.

. California has long had a lot of hoops to jump through to build. While a barrier, if you got through them you could make money. I'm sure there are even more hoops today.

Everything goes back to the education system. The left won the war 120 years ago, we just didn't know it and it has taken this long for the fruits of their labor to really take hold.

You keep a populace ignorant, uneducated and taught to believe that government will take care of them and you get a populace that votes idiots and evil people that use government against the people for their own gain and for the gain of their party/cause.

And here we are.

The goal is to stall on permits until people give up and sell the property. Major firms come in, buy up the land. Possibly at a reduced value, then build multi family living.

But how much infrastructure would have to be added for multi family housing? Who is going to pay for that?

Zero.
Streets are already there. They wont have to add anymore parking because the goal is to shove everyone onto public transit. Water is always an issue but it wont stop their "progress".

CA dems aren't concerned about quality of life issues. They want max density to justify all of their other goals.

People had to put up fencing and "no trespassing" sings on their fire ravaged properties b/c squatters were camping on the burned out home foundations.

The sad thing a lot of those folks were only house rich. Palisades, as I understand was a VERY expensive area, but there were quite a few "normal" middle class folks living there in inherited properties. (I forget the Prop #) Since property tax are frozen in the year of acquisition I heard (podcast interview) that many in that neighborhood were folks in inherited properties. They were mortgage free paid off home rich, but for all intents jsut average middle class folks that now have no way of being able to afford the rebuild on a property worth a small fraction of what it was pre-fire.
