A few AI companies totally controlled by the Democrat party.

Quote:

MARC ANDREESSEN: "We had meetings with the Biden admin where they told us to not even start AI companies because there's no way they'll let them succeed."

JOE ROGAN: "What do you do after a meeting like that?"

MARC ANDREESSEN: "You go endorse Donald Trump."

Bernie Sanders is introducing a bill that would, one time, seize 50% of the stock of each AI company, I guess once the IPO goes thru if not yet publicly traded.

Per Bernie, AI is stealing from humanity. I feel like someone needs to explain to him that AI is essentially just pulling the same data from the internet that pretty much all of humanity (except places like North Korea or Iran) already have access to.

But why bother? Please, please, please dems, keep waging war against Big Tech. Please.

Democrats fear/hate anthing they can't control. No surprise they didn't want companies to invest, research, and develop until they were certain they could get their conniving little paws all over it.

Any US citizen that could be a liberal democrat in today's democrat party is an irrational socialist moron and someone I don't care to be around for .000000000000000001 seconds.

Well, Bernie has spent the last 84 years stealing oxygen from humanity.

If Artificial Intelligence companies had any real intelligence they would stop training their AIs to be lefties.

I believe that AI is eventually going to take down a lot of the corruption in DC.

Someone is going to crack into the payment systems, and get AI to trace where all of the money is going, similar to what DOGE started. Now that we have better AI, it could find a lot more.

Especially if quantum computers ever hit reality. Hackers are going to be able to get into protected payment systems and trace money through the economy back into DC poly elite pockets. Then, all hell breaks loose.

Would be glorious to see.

He's 85, man. Have you ever tried to convince an 85 year of anything? (And he's even worse because he's got a built-up persona.)

Talking to him would be as productive as holding a conversation during a Slayer concert. Not changing a thing.

No its not that. It's control of information.

They want to shut down free thinking (even AI thinking) and drive all discourse. Decide what is acceptable speech. What topics can be reviewed by LLM's. Just like Europe is doing right now with social media.

They want control over their AI like the CCP has control over their AI.

I have no problem with AI companies. I work in AI myself.

BUT!

If these companies are developing tech that can ruin societies, cause destruction, kill people, make them jobless en-masse beyond what is reasonable when new tech arrives, they must be stopped.

All tech must be for common good and to move society forward. Else ban it. If I can't make a nuke at home, Amodei (Anthropic boss) must not be allowed to build something that lays waste to society. Who decides this? The President and the maybe the Supreme Court.

A lot of them, yes. Unfortunately there are a lot of politically unplugged and clueless people who are compleyely ignorant and just know that Trump says things they don't like. Mostly females. They think because everything has always been easy and comfortable in this country for their entire lives that that means it will always be so. My wife has a few old HS and college friends like this...I can't stand it. They repost cherrypicked lovey dovey soundbytes from Talarico talking about how we should all just love one another, completely oblivious to what he stands for, or the fact that he is a heretic of the highest order.

They could not tell you what socialism even is, and they are capitalist hyperconsumers, they just have no business voting.

Women are all full of lovey dovey rhetoric because they never really go to war and never are responsible for defensive. Don't tell me about those badass babes in the military, most of them are in it for the money, glamor and to pose in military wear and post on IG. It is overwhelmingly the job of males in society to protect, even today.

So women never see war or experience the horrors so think it's no big deal and hence have no problem going against society's well being to bring in the trash into the country.

Certainly not a defender of anything from the Biden regime, but it can be argued this current cast will turn out to be just as bad if not worse in their own way. They are just better at telling the Right what they want to hear so they can get their agenda in place. Musk too.

Not sure if you're trolling or not here...

Inventions always have the potential to upend society, sometimes this process is chaotic and has second and third order effects that bring negatives along with the positives. I'm sure the horse and carriage lobby was pretty scared when automobiles started rolling around. Put a lot of pooper scoopers out of work along with horesmen and wood axle repairmen.

The bottom line is that no one is putting this genie back in the bottle, and innovation in the field is going to continue. Short term the tech is likely to be disruptive to a lot of industries that have an established battle rhythm, but long term it's not hard to see a future where we've been able to "off-shore" much of the menial work humans are forced to do to AI. I find it asinine to call for our inefficient and corrupt government to "oversee" technological development. Between the incontinence, corruption, greed, incompetence and other related great qualities of most of our representatives, I have zero trust that those in power would not wield AI on their own behalf while simultaneously telling us we can't have it, or using it to control the flow of information. Give me an idealistic and potentially reckless innovator EVERY DAY over a politician.

And finally, while AI does and will have military applications, it's stupid to compare it to building a nuclear weapon. Even if you had the technical know-how, you couldn't build a nuclear weapon unless you also had a giant industrial infrastructure and a staff of scientists backing you up. It's not like you just put a piece of plutonium inside a conventional bomb and call it nuclear.

I think you may need to come up for some air from the conspiracy theories. Not everything is an evil plot to destroy civilization out of greed.

AI for example has great potential for both harm and good. The harms must be understood and mitigated, but we should not destroy the good with the bad. Our technology has often been like this. Steel made terrible weapons of war but built the tools and structures of civilization. Anything can be used to build or destroy.

This new technology isn't going to be unmade, unlearned. It isn't going to be stopped from manifesting. What can be done is to ensure it is developed wisely and not recklessly.

There are critics of Anthropic's messaging here as being self-serving but interesting nonetheless:

Quote:

Anthropic is calling for top artificial intelligence labs to weigh slowing the pace of development, suggesting that AI systems are advancing so rapidly that they may soon be able to improve themselves without human intervention in ways that could pose significant societal risks.

The ability to slow global AI development would "likely be a good thing," the company said Thursday in a blog post that disclosed internal data documenting how quickly its most advanced models are improving.

The post, written by the head of its internal research institute and a company co-founder, noted that model advances appear to be on a path toward "recursive self-improvement," when AI systems can improve on their own without human intervention. Some AI insiders have seen that threshold as a potential marker of danger and enormous societal upheaval.

"We believe it would be good for the world to have the option to slow or temporarily pause frontier AI development to enable societal structures and alignment research to keep up with the advance of the technology," the post, written by Marina Favaro and Jack Clark, says. It proposes a global agreement on how to potentially slow development and a mechanism for verifying that competitors are respecting it.
The post cautions that recursive self-improvement hasn't yet happened and isn't inevitable, "but could come sooner than most institutions are prepared for."

My concern is that If we don't keep up with technology, whatever that technology is, our enemies aren't going to slow down.

Exactly right. It's a nice thought by Anthropic, but China sure as hell isn't going to slow down development regardless of what they may say publicly. It's an arms race that we have to make sure we're leading. We cannot risk falling behind.

I see, it's the billions of dollars in fraud, stealing our tax dollars. It's not mentally disturbed young men and women mutilating themselves, committing murder. It's not boys with d*cks playing girls sports, it's not over 10 million illegals that are sucking our tax dollars when it's only a power play to buy more votes, it's not the thousands of children that wind up in the hands of the dark sexually perverted underworld. It's not the innocent US citizens that have been murdered by illegals. It's the right that's in the wrong. RIIIIGHT.
