I wonder if this is actually much more common than this one instance.

Scamming our government seems way too easy. And then the government scams NGOs and contractors or launders with NGOs and contractors via grants or contracts and the cycle repeats.

I assume widespread fraud is rampant throughout the government.

Much more than just buying $10,000 plasma TVs that a USAF Aggie classmate of mine was doing with "year end money" back in the early 2000s.

Or even in the mid-1990s when I worked for The State of Texas and our IT department would buy a $250,000 Hewlett-Packard UNIX server with grant money that was going to expire.

If you think about how much you pay in and how much you get back... You know our tax money is getting wasted everywhere you look. State, Local and obviously Federal is the biggest and the worst.

And when DOGE set out to investigate, you saw how quickly they got taken out because it's a "problem" that nobody wants to fix.

The Department of War wastes Billions but, the insidious part about our Intelligence community is that it's all Classified and there's no oversight in what they're doing or how much they're spending.

Look to any number of Joe Rogan or Shawn Ryan interviews for confirmation.

Our elected representatives should be cracking down on wasteful spending in all forms, but their incentives run counter to that.

They gain power when government spends more - both political and personal.

Sadly, not only is it not changing, it's getting worse.

Yet another reason we should expand to the senate seats by 5X and the House by 10X

This has film or mini-series starring Bob Odenkirk or Nick Offerman written all over it.

I'll bet my next SS check that the Trump admin is using AI to uncover massive government fraud.

that said, it's only a matter of time before the Dems step in and challenge it in court. Their survival depends on it.

Why?! So more people can rob us blind?!

Maybe it's the Indian (subcontinent) management strategy where if you assign enough people to the project, eventually, someone will do the work. Even though everyone is getting paid to do the work.

Had a friend that worked for the CIA and they withheld taxes until they returned a $500 watch they issued him for a mission that he barely survived from. Knew something was way off when I originally saw this story.

The use of 'special access programs' with absolute secrecy are just one of the things our founding fathers would absolutely be furious about with our gov't today.

Take a look at real estate inside the beltway and it's plain as day what's going on. A picture of pigs competing for the slop comes to mind. Then the foreigners arrived and said hold my beer. If anyone thinks it's difficult to defraud our government, people from Somalia pulled it off and had Govies covering for them. Somalians that can't even spell "Learning".

All of it is crazy, but this part seems the craziest:
Quote:

Investigators say he lied about his college degrees, faked being a Navy pilot, and still sailed through the CIA's notoriously brutal vetting

Normal government agencies, ok. How in the heck do you con your way through what is thought to be one of the most paranoid processes out there?

I say just drag this guy out back and tie him to a wall. If he starts talking, lower your weapons.

When he does finish talking, thank him for the intel, and shoot him anyway.

It does light up the conspiracy theories. There might be more to this story.

A guy went way up in A&M's administration claiming to be a former SEAL among other things. Turns out at that level they weren't vetting properly. It happens.
