How long do you want to ignore this user?
I applied this year as a freshman in the major biomedical science. I am originally from Georgia, but I have pretty good grades and as the top ten (not percent). I was put on waitlist for a good while, and results just recently came out for me, and it's psa. I would say my essay was not the greatest of all but it is pretty decent. Tamu has the highest ranking in the major I'm working towards, and I am really upset and confused. I heard this year is a lot harder to get in; is that true, or is it because I am out of state?? Should I ask them for a chance or something?

Sorry to hear that. OOS definitely doesn't help. A&M is over 90% in state by law. Engineering is particularly competitive. Don't know much of what can be done this late in the game.

Honestly, I knew TAMU was like this, but I just wanted to give it a shot since I had a pretty good GPA. I still got upset, though. But then again, if I got in, there would be a lot of problems I would be facing because I was thinking of doing a deferral cuz I don't want to pay out of state...

if you really want to go to A&M, take the PSA. As long as you meet the requirements (which aren't hard for a good student), you're guaranteed admission and are at A&M for the rest of your time. Your first year will fly by and you'll be at A&M very soon.

My son did it, and he's very glad he did (his roommate was from out of State and took the PSA option as well). They are both glad they'll be at A&M and graduate as Aggies.

What is PSA?

It's when you go to a system school for a year (like A&M Corpus Christi), meet certain basic requirements, and transfer in your sophomore year.

Does this get you in state tuition if you're originally out of state? Or does it just give you the ability to be accepted to A&M college station?

We're in-State, so I dont know the answer. That said, unless you've established residency in the State, I'd assume you'd still be paying out-of-state tuition.

It's just a guaranteed transfer into A&M (assuming you meet the requirements), rather than trying to transfer in on your own.

No, it doesnt, you would need $4k+ of competitive scholarships a year to get in state tuition. Most other state schools in Texas it is just $1k/year in scholarships. Supply and demand....
