What do you have to offer in terms of education, skills, and experience?

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration, an MBA, and a Master of Legal Studies in Health Law, Policy, and Management. Aside from waiting tables in high-end settings, and the organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills i've developed; I'm fairly green to the industry, eager to learn and grow.

I am not in the industry myself, but one of my closest friends manages NGL Schedulers for one of the big companies in Houston.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but your education and resume wouldn't pass the first screening. At the big companies, they probably wouldn't hire college graduates for that role even if your degree was directly related.

Now, smaller companies.... maybe? I don't know anything there.

Good luck! You may just need to get a foot in the door somewhere, prove your worth and maneuver yourself towards scheduling over the next couple years.

I would look into taking classes in P6 to get a feel for it or at least look at YT videos to have a understanding. I myself i'm trying to make the jump from Turnaround planning to scheduler, been in the turnaround business for over a decade and have worked several positions, but scheduler does make more than a planner so gotta chase that green.

Yes they do make more, and I love the career outlook for a scheduler! They make great traders.

Another option is looking for an opening at a midstream company/pipeline and learn the ins and outs of the industry. Priority of services, contracts, contraints and gas cycles. You could do that for a while before moving over to scheduling. It can be a good way to get some experience and knowledge.

Former Scheduling Manager and Director of Ops for a major here. You are going to have to network your ass off to get in the door. Having an MBA, that may help, but unless I knew you it wouldn't get you in front of me. Most the schedulers I hired came from small shops, were previous gas controllers or came from an analyst position. Most stayed for 3-7 years then went into trading. Those that stuck around moved up the ladder. Best of luck.
