I have 20 years experience reading structural and architectural design drawings, mainly as a steel detailer, but the past 3 years have been as a project manager. I have started to notice more red flags at my current company and have decided that it's probably time that I start looking around. The other steel fabricators around San Antonio don't seem to be hiring or are over an hour away, but I'm tied to the area.

Would working for a GC be a good move? I work with a lot of PMs that get burned out working for a GC.

Any other ideas of who might value my experience the most?

Why do you recommend them? Do you know someone who works there or have you worked with them?

Just look on indeed and LinkedIn for suppliers or anything close. There are a lot of jobs that pop up from the smaller companies but they shut them down fast. I wouldn't go to the GC side bc I haven't done it but plenty of friends and family that left the side of it. SA has a ton of jobs. Recruiters were like roaches once they knew I was looking but I had to get picky. Take your time and just expand the search.
