I really only have another year before I can begin drawing retirement as a supplemental income, but I was going to change careers, anyway, at that point. The insane focus my admin has on these state tests have got this English teacher and coach burned out. I also don't feel the fire to just change schools or districts again.
I had been looking at Court Reporting, but it's much more of a training process, and is expensive. I also have concerns about the positions being replaced with AI in the future. I do like the flexibility of the role, though - being largely remote for online depositions as a freelance.
I've been looking at Training Specialist positions, and I think that'll be my direction. I've considered Sales, but I'm not wired for cold-calls or living off of commission. I'm good with deadlines, but not with sales quotas.
Marketable skills and experience are:
Knowledge/proficiency with common business software
Excellent communicator in writing and verbally
Very comfortable with creating and conducting in-person presentations for various group sizes
Collaborating with others to produce content of various types, not just lessons
Project management
Communications via basic social media to advertise events and publicize accomplishments
Assessing needs and developing processes by which to meet those needs
Researching various modes and methods of accomplishing goals
Documenting research for citation
Adapting to and leading various types of change within an organization
Following organization processes in order to maintain security and safety
Any additional direction or opportunities that you might recommend would be appreciated.
