Hearing 20% of Oracle. About 25-30k employees. That's a big RIF.

It's been rumored for a while but this is first time I've heard it from employees (friends). I thought Oracle waited until end of May (Q4 for them) to do these kind of things.
I hope I did not offend anybody with this post. If I did, please come see me at my address in my profile so we can talk.

Hate to see that. I hope your friends survive it.

They've suffered a pretty big drop off their 52wk high, ~60%, so I'm not surprised.

end result is the same for those affected, but getting an email? That's some BS. Says a lot about the corporate culture/leadership.

30K layoffs worldwide. That's rough.

I completely agree, but 30k is a lot of phone calls. That said, the same culture is probably partially responsible for 30k people getting canned to begin with.

Big companies are great for so many reasons, exceptional benefits and generally being less volatile than a small co that might be struggling to make payroll. But, this is kind of the worst case of the other side... cold and impersonal. Though, I'm sure the severance packages aren't terrible.

Related...we've had a couple SaaS vendors reach out in the last several weeks with long term contracts and pricing incentives where that hadn't been their model before...they wanted to be monthly/per item.

AI is changing the game for these vendors - it's so disruptive.

One offered a 3 year contract, the other a 2 year contract and both about 70% of their average pricing.

I went back to the 3 year vendor with 6 months @ 50% of our existing pricing and the 2 year vendor with 6 months @ 70%. First agreed, second countered at 1 year @ 50% - we agreed there but gutted the early termination fees/penalties.

It's a wild time for these vendors.

Actually, my friend said his VP flew out to him personally last week to somewhat let him know. VP was also let go. That's good leadership.

Ramp to $50Bn in Capex on $65ishBn in revenue. Oracle will absolutely be a case study in 10 years, if it's a good or bad case still remains to be seen.

Is your company taking the discounts or still weighing options generally?

We'll take the discount now and probably end up with cheaper or home grown products on expiration.

Good to know that new CFO can make heart emojis as she laughs all the way to the bank.

Oracle always overpays the c-level. Generally in top 10 overall.
