I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread started about this one. A brand new Heroes of Might and Magic entry launched into early access yesterday. I was a massive fan of HoMM 2 and 3 so I've been waiting on this one for a while since it looked way more like those entries than the later entries to the series that I didn't care for.

I played about 3 hours last night before I realized how late it was and it felt so much like a modern HoMM3 with even more depth. Can't wait to keep at it this weekend.

I'm very selective about Early Access stuff, but I'm such a HoMM3 fan I said screw it. Currently sitting at 92% positive with about 1,000 reviews. Steam store link below.

I am excited to check it out at some point! I played a ton Heroes 3 Complete back in the day, and more recently enjoyed playing Songs of Conquest. I am glad there are options for this type of game now!

I loved Songs of Conquest too, definitely scratched some of that HoMM itch. Had some unique features too I enjoyed. I felt like it was a little lacking in factions and troop diversity but they keep on adding to it so I'll definitely go back to it once a few more DLCs have rolled out.

Have been waiting for this one for a while. I, too, played SoC to help fill that HoMM void. I was waiting to see how people are liking the new one. Glad that the feedback is so positive

Played a ton of HoMM 2 with my friends back in the day. Necromancer w/ Bone Dragons ftw.

my wife still plays Heroes II on our dell laptop from time to time (and she is not a gamer in any sense), but i see this one requires a graphics card. Good potential that it works on Steam deck, though. She would love this.

It barely needs a GPU, looks like the minimum is a 1650 and recommended is a 1660, so basically 7 year old budget cards haha. I like the art style, I think they wanted this to be accessible for just about anyone.

Yeah, my wifes dell xps just has intel integrated graphics, so probably a no go. Its a "thin and light" class that was en vogue a few years ago.

I'll check this one out. I loved the old school HOMM and the first Age of Wonders.

Man, I have some serious skill issue or they still need to balance the AI difficulty. Three games down and I got my ass whipped on all three. I just don't understand how they are generating such massive armies and speedrunning straight to my city. Haven't had a game go over two months yet.

Going with balance issues for now so my ego stays intact.

And definitely not new to the franchise. HOMM 3 entirely deleted at least one of my summers growing up.

I have a ton of time in AoW4. It's probably my favorite true sandbox "build a civ" game out there. It's worth the sale price I think if you haven't tried it yet. It does have DLC creep but it's all pretty straightforward. You like a species concept not in the base game, you can buy the DLC for it. If not, don't bother. Won't take away from the gameplay at all.

I've had the itch to but I feel like these types of games evolved way past my multitasking abilities long ago. These two games and AoE2 burned a lot of hours for me back in the day but somewhere along the way the complexity of newer RTS games lost me.

One of my favorite games ever was a LOTR mod for Age of Wonders. I ultimately had to abort the game though because I couldn't ever break the stalemate and the game finally just bogged down and stopped working after hundreds of turns. Game just couldn't handle it.
