My daughter was at Mystic. I'm at the Elementary School in Ingram just waiting on any info. This has been a terrible day. I wish someone would give us something. I was not contacted before they sent out the email about all the missing childrens parents being contacted so I am still holding it together, but man this is dragging out.
Agreed.....the last thing these folks in this area need is to be inundated with 100's of folk converging on the area even with the best of intentionsGunny456 said:
I think lots of folks want to help, very understandable. Understand that this is a localized event….and not as widespread as a hurricane. It involves people and property up and down the river.
In the Guadalupe flood of 1978 our home and property was devastated. House had 4' water, trees down, drift and debris everywhere. My family was working hard with chainsaws cutting downed trees and debris off our house and barns etc.
I sat my chainsaw down as I was dragging some limbs to a pile. When I came back my chainsaw was gone. Looters were picking up and stealing lumber, tools, anything.
The looters were our largest problem besides all the devastation because law enforcement is busy helping in rescue and recovery and not able to patrol everywhere.
Lots of people show up saying they want to help but really just want to look at things and are more of a hindrance than help…so be aware of that.
So if you go help don't get angry if you are not let in the area. Those folks, landowners, first responders, local law enforcement and officials etc are at max right now.
Find someone or an organization you can coordinate with.

We are getting more information that LaJunta is completely destroyed but everyone is apparently ok. It was a crazy night. Counselors had to pull kids out of flooding cabins through windows. Really bad deal.

Prayers. My great niece is still unaccounted for. Poured me a whisky and gave it up to the Lord.
