I would like to take my wife and her mom (86 years young) on a day trip to see the wildflowers.

Can y'all give me some updates on areas that are in full bloom?

Leaving from Richmond, about 70-100 mile radius?:

ETA: I've lived in Fort Bend County for 68 years. I know all the most likely places. What I'm looking for are current reports for the most likely places to see flowers.

Thanks

We haven't had time yet to venture out of Brazoria County, but if our front flower bed is any indication, there should be plenty to see...Good luck & have fun!

I drove from Houston up 290 through Brenham this weekend. There are some bluebonnets out but not a ton.

It's a tough year for blue bonnets. Not much rain, especially last fall when they were supposed to germinate. Then not much to help them along over the winter. There will be isolated pockets where they got some rain but overall not going to be a banner year...

I'm in the Hill Country, Lake LBJ area. Usually we have Bluebonnets by Valentine's Day, got a little rain over the weekend and they are starting to pop up.

Get out there before the grass grows enough to cover them up. I'm too far away to help tell you where to go, but I've spent 20 years driving to Houston and back in the springtime and there will be flowers if we have them out here.

When we bought our new place in December I threw out some Bluebonnet and other wildflower seeds. Nothing happening yet, may have missed the window for germination.

Out here in Midland, so we don't naturally get bluebonnets. Was hoping I'd have some come up. Will have to try again this fall.

Noticed them popping up just west of Brenham on the south side of 290 this past Sunday.

Maybe a little earlier for the thick of them but typically one of the best routes is between Hempstead and Burton on 290

Not much in the Hill Country at this point, but had some good rain this week. Hardly ANY flowers near Johnson City on 281/290.
