I run a few stealth cams. Love the cameras and the app.
My spend on AA batteries is absurd. I see they offer a rechargeable Fieldmax Li-Ion battery. At this rate 1 rechargeable is equivalent to about 3 sets of 16AAs.
Any opinions? TIA

I'm in the same boat with a tactacam. Crazy how fast those big packs of AA's from Sam's/Costco disappear.

I'm running two Moultries and purchased their rechargeable battery packs. Plus a spare if needed as recharge time is usually 12-16 hours.

No complaints. And beats the heck out of having to deal with AAs.

I've got Tactacams and came to a similar conclusion from a cost perspective, and more importantly the convenience. This year I'm planning on running a solar powered separate battery pack on them so I don't have to worry about them running out when I cant get back out there for a couple weeks.

I've got a Spypoint that sits (for surveillance) in a closet (no sunlight for solar panel) that runs 6-9 months on a recharged lithium. The alkalines only lasted a couple months.

Got another Spypoint with solar/lithium, that sits outside, that I haven't touched in a year.

The rechargeable lithiums are definitely worth it. Less hassle, and if you're taking LOTS of photos, you'll possibly save money (probably break even after 1-1/2 to 2 years).

Good info. I've also got Tactacams and like them a lot. But regular alkaline last a month and the Li barely two months - and I have them sent for medium sensitivity and medium shots. Mine are not out in the boon docks but they're high enough in ladder height access it's a pain to change batteries.

My lease uses solar chargers on 15 cameras that we use. All are stealth cam brand cameras and chargers. We have found that the chargers only last about three years in our experience. Yours may vary. We are going to try to open the charger and replace the batteries with new rechargeable ones and see if that works out cheaper, which it should. I have no idea about other brands of chargers, only the stealth cam brand.

I have Tactacam's. 7 of them. I go a year or more without touching them thanks to solar panels.

I gave up on the AA game a long time ago!
