Found a mystery piece of trim on the driveway beside my truck. Upon inspection, the trim below the back power window was off. It didn't get there by itself and the window was not broken or open. Do thieves remove trim when trying to break in? It would have to be one skinny mofo to get through a Tacoma rear window, but….


The outdoor board knows stuff.

If it was an attempted break in they didn't know what they were doing.

It's a head scratcher, for sure. That piece of trim didn't fly off, and clear that bed and toolbox on its own.

That old tape / adhesive strip dries up and gets brittle.

If not, it might not be the first time this has happened looking at the photo.

I can assure you, that stuff was still sticky when I went to remove it for the new tape. The piece was 6 feet away on the ground when we found it. I'm the original owner, and it hasn't happened before.

Back in the 90's had someone break into my buddies tacoma back center window down at Mardi Gras in Galveston. Guessing it was a hobo cause all they stole was my letter jacket and my buddies sleeping bag. So, maybe it was a cold hobo cruising your neighborhood.

Finishing up spring break with all the amateur/future career criminals not spending most of the day in class. One of them probably decided to break into your truck without knowing what they were doing and gave up pretty quickly because it was too difficult. They will be back right after the semester ends.
