We have a couple of persimmon trees that have leafed out well this spring and are getting blooms, but just in the last day or two, a bunch of the leaves at the ends of the branches started turning black. We had temps down slightly below freezing monday night, is this just new growth getting frost nipped? Or is it something else I need to be more concerned about?

It is damage from the frost.

Yeah, I looked it up elsewhere and that seems to be it. I just didn't realize their fresh growth was that tender.

persimmons are fairly fragile trees I believe. My property has a nice grove/ cluster of them, many of which produced a ton of fruit last fall, but several have died and some have snapped in half from high winds.
