Generator/Battery Backup Options

How long do you want to ignore this user?
We've had a couple power outages that last a few days that makes me nervous about meat in the deep freezer & fridge so now we're looking into a pretty portable backup that could help maintain temperature by running them for a couple hours. I'd like to look to stay in the $500-700 range.

I have access to some plugs in first responder lines that could be used to recharge. Or keeping a few gallons of gas is an option, but I don't want to have to worry about fumes without ventilation.

You would be much better off to put something similar together separately.

Buy a small inverter / charge controller, some lithium iron phosphate batteries (specs depend on the charge controller you have), and then power it with either a generator or solar panels, your call. That will give you the automatic failover capability with the batteries, and you can decide on your backup power source. I have something similar setup for my deep freeze.

We get power outages fairly frequently during monsoon season, and since we have two refrigerators, we have two Ecoflow power stations. These sort of things will cost more than buying a battery and an inverter, but I don't mind the added expense since we aren't talking about a large amount of money anyway. I like these because of their portability and the fact that they can be easily recharged with a solar panel. If power goes out for a number of days or even weeks, I can keep one fridge running the entire time by running one unit while the other recharges. Lots of other uses too such as camping, and if you use corded power/lawn tools, you can use them anywhere you want.

If this sort of thing is interesting to you, start your investigation with Ecoflow, Jackery, Anker, Bluetti, Generac, and Goal Zero. Don't pay full price for any of these as they go on sale quite often, especially during Amazon Prime days.

Thanks. What wattage do you look for to run your fridge?
