Next week we are going to spray foam our machine shop here in Marshall, TX. I'd like to get pricing on adding an industrial style HVAC system to the building. Do you recommend just going to the local HVAC companies here or are there people in larger cities who might specialize in this kind of thing? I appreciate any input you can provide!

Marshall is big enough that you should have an HVAC guy that does larger commercial work. Your shop isn't going to be much different than any decent sized commercial building. I'd start there before going out of town.

I'm in the filter business and do a lot of services where there is a lot of oil mist and machinery dust. Get ready to change your filters a lot and have the contractor put the returns as far away from work sites as possible. I would go to a mechanical company that has experience with industry and isn't just installing package units on a roof.

This

I used to sell machine tool mist filter systems and especially if you use oil, you'll need to really consider it in a climate controlled shop.

Old fart and old Trane commercial guy chiming in. Also a fellow Northeast TX guy. Marshall was the closest KFC when I was a kid on multiple trips to Barksdale AFB.

Split heat pumps or AC assuming you've got adequate make up air. Also assumes you might have Reznor gas units now.

Spot cooling - this depends on building size and how many machines and machinists.

HEAVY filtration per previous posts. That air can get nasty. Also filters that are very easily replaced. Air handlers on ground level.

Get a contractor that can provide examples of past light commercial work in oil contaminated environments.

There are some cool chilled water systems that support multiple evaporator coil units.

Good luck.
