Howdy people.

Just started to really get back into fishing, specifically freshwater for bass, but open to other types. I am located in the west Houston area, almost to Katy.

Do any Houston area Ags have any public spot recommendations that have some good Bass fishing?? Any help is appreciated. I have tried out a few and haven't had the best luck. Figured I'd ask the question on here.

Also, I've been pretty much only been using a Senko worm on a Texas rig. If anybody gets a lot of bites using another type of lure lmk!

Thanks and Gig Em!

Not sure that is exactly "public" but the lakes by the clubhouse of Falcon Point had some giant bass when I lived nearby. Most people fished on Mondays when the course was closed.

Cross Creek has several good lakes to fish but I have not personally fished them. Cinco by the clubhouse has pretty good bass. There are quite a few spots along buffalo bayou that hold good bass too.

Disclaimer - it has been 10-15 years since I have fished most of these spots for anything other than catfish with my kids.

I'd just get on Google Maps and look for park or right of way accessible retention ponds, ponds, or even creeks snd drainage bayous. I have caught some nice bass in neighborhood detention ponds and little creeks. Not monsters, but downsize gear and tackle dnd it is a lot of fun.

When k lived in spring, I caught a legit 5-6lb bass bank fishing in cypress creek where a dainange channel flowed in.

Download the Texas Outdoor Annual (OA) app. There is a spot called "where to fish" and it will determine your location and approx distance to some suggested areas.

Most of us over here would recommend the Baytown City Park jetties.
I feel so much better since about 11 a.m. CT on 20 Jan. 2025

Lake Houston
Sheldon Reservoir
Lake Woodlands
Fayette County Lake
Lake Somerville
Lake Conroe

Lots of Bayou fishing.

Happy to get you out on the boat for any of the above or certainly out on bayous and bays south of you.

That'd be awesome! Right now I'm limited since I don't have a boat myself

This is a good resource for finding community fishing areas around the state.
