What's your favorite? Chippawah seems to be the main brand out there. I'm about to need a pair for a job, and they'll be paid for as "supplies" by my employer.
Being in TexAgs jail changes a man……..no, not really

Any pair with a zipper

Zipper never worked long for me. Tried two times and both broke. Went back with pullons

I'd go with chaps over boots. Any thick leather, high barrel cowboy boot will work for a "snake boot". But getting hit in the thigh sucks ass.

Yep. Have a pair of kevlar chaps pops got back in the day for chainsaw work. They are great, albeit not the most comfortable in the summer - but better than the alternative when working in tight spaces.

I don't have any sources handy but I researched this a long time ago and it's the foot

Whatever you do if caution against mocassin tops. Tried them once and while very comfortable I just couldn't get past the fact that water is trapped on top of boot until it starts soaking in.

Get a pair of turtleskin snake chaps. They are light weight and more comfortable than traditional chaps or snake boots. I wear them all season when quail hunting and wear them all year while working at the ranch.

Never tried the Chippewas. But I have been satisfied with my Justin's.

This. Waterproof and the most comfortable out of the box. No break in blisters.

Have had several pairs and I cut the strap/ buckle off the top of the boot just because I don't need it.

From what I understand, domestically the data tells a different story and hands/arms is most common. Elsewhere in the world, especially in places like India where venomous snakes and people interact much more frequently, it is more likely to be feet/legs.

Step on is calf/shin usually.

But most common is hand/arm.

I've been wearing chaps for years because you can wear your regular comfortable work boots with them. I actually got a pair of cheap Rocky snake boots on the clearance rack at academy this winter just to try them, and they are pretty comfortable. Not sure on durability since ive only been wearing them a few weeks, but I will probably switch back to chaps later in the summer anyway.

Bought some Chippewas but they were too tight over my arch / instep. Fit my son perfectly. He commandeered them. So I bought some Justins. Most uncomfortable pair of boots I've ever owned. Stiff and hard soled. Maybe it's the droughted out hard pan ground making it worse?

Just got off the phone with Armando Duarte Jr. Would love to go that route. They make some great looking snake boots. $1200-2000 and a year out.

Thanks for the tip.

$1200-2000 and one year is very reasonable in both regards for custom boots

I had a pair of snake chaps I thought I liked but once a friend had me try a pair of Turtleskins on a quail hunt, I bought myself a pair while sitting on the quail rig. Didn't even bring my old pair back home, I donated them to the hunt camp as a last resort for the next person.

I had good luck with Rocky Men's Retraction Waterproof Side-Zip Snake Boot.

First pair lasted about 5 years and bought second pair from TSC. Could walk all day in these and feet stayed dry.
