Short version: looking for a shop in south Austin to do a used car inspection for a flat fee
Long version: We are looking to buy a 2013 F150 in Austin for our son. When we first looked at it, my husband hooked up his scan tool that showed it had a code indicating a misfire in the first 1000 revolutions (P03016). The check engine light did not come on.
From my husband's research, some of the potential causes are
-switching from summer/winter gas mixtures
-head gasket about to go bad
-water in intercooler
-spark plug gap issue
Fixing these issues has a wide range in cost. We obviously don't want to buy it and then pay thousands in repairs. The owner scanned it and also got some voltage codes. The owner had just replaced the battery and said that something needed to be reset. Since he did that, the codes have not returned.
Does anyone know of an honest place in south Austin that could look over it for us for a flat fee? It would make us feel better to have an unbiased person check it out.
