Anyone here live in Mansfield? We are looking to moving to the area. Work in Duncanville and Midlothian. Would like to know your opinions on schools, raising family, etc there.

It is a booming area.

I lived there for about a decade and then moved to far south Arlington within the Mansfield ISD.

Nice town - still growing, although the school growth has leveled off. Move to where your kids will go to Mansfield, Lake Ridge or Legacy. Summit and Timberview draw most of the south Arlington crowd.

Lots of new restaurants adn stuff to do. they're building a canal!

We moved out of the area about 10 years ago. It is bustling as has been said.

Ended up not pleased with the schools. Had kids in grade school and others who were in line to go, and we figured out they would be in trailers through most of their time there.

Why not Midlothian? I've heard better things about that area.

I'd suggest for you to also consider Midlothian - especially if one of your main considerations is schools. It's growing like everywhere else, but starting to get more retail and food choices.

I'd look at Midlo, too. Heritage is pretty good in my experience.

But for HS - Legacy and Mansfield HS are the two best. Then Lake Ridge as a distant 3rd. I'd avoid Timberview and Summit. There is talk of redrawing the zones as population is still growing quite a bit.

We are in the Walnut Creek neighborhood (yes I know- username does not check out). We love this area. Everything we need is within 10-15 minutes. HEB is here, Costco opens in August, and Trader Joe's opens next year.

Great parks system- the new Katherine Rose park is one of the best in the metroplex. Growing trail infrastructure and lots of splash pads for kids.

As mentioned above- go for somewhere zoned to MHS. Avoid Timberview or Summit.

Also one important thing to consider these days is water- Mansfield has a surplus of water supply and actually sells some to surrounding cities vs some of these up and coming towns in the metroplex may have a serious water problem on their hands in the coming years

OP, where do you live now?

My vote would be Mansfield (over Midlothian). Midlo is growing too fast and I think that town (and their schools) will have some issues in the not too distant future.

I'm far S. Arlington and really enjoy Mansfield and it's amenities

I love the area, but agree on the schools being an issue. We live in a fantastic neighborhood that is ultimately zoned to Summit. Majority of the families in our neighborhood go private or move before the kids get to middle school high age. No chance I'm sending my kids to Summit, so we'll likely be moving to a Legacy feeder area, Midlothian, Burleson, or Joshua at some point in the next few years.

Lived there from 2003-2021.

We moved to Oregon for a few years and then came back to DFW (not Mansfield) and when I drive out to see my mom in Mansfield I barely recognize the place with all of the new businesses and even more apartments.

Still a cool little town, but I have friends that are more than a little concerned about the City government and the way they are spending money, especially with several huge projects that were approved by council without ever going to a citizen vote. Still trying to figure out the whole canal thing they are building.
