What is the deal with the Shipley's on 34th and Ella?

Why is that one special?

I've prolly purchased 50,000 donuts from that location. It's not special.

Got to be a trap house right? If it's packed after lunch into night then it's selling something other than donuts. Unless I'm underestimating Houston's addiction to sugar and donuts.

Just have to look at the types of cars in the line. Most of the time, long afternoon lines are on Thursdays and Fridays, so Becky is either getting donuts for the office on Friday or Sharon is getting them for all the -iydns for Saturday morning breakfast because she doesn't want to put on a bra at 7a.

From the outside looking in, you can't understand it. And from the inside looking out, you can't explain it.

The real name of the country is Czechia not the garbage longform name used by the oafish dullards of modest learning here in the states. HTH

Im sticking with Czechoslovakia… simply thats where mygreat grandparents arrived from at the port of Galveston in 1896.

If someone can call a hotdog, a Kolache, i feel pretty safe calling Czechia, Czechoslovakia .

I know, I know, nobody cares. save the effort of letting me know. It has already been made crystal clear.

Czechoslovakia did not exist in 1896. They came from Austria-Hungary. Bohemia (and Moravia) was a possession of Austria and Slovakia was just part of Hungary.

Yes, in fact my great grand father's documents that he had to sign as he entered the US through Galveston declares that his allegiance from the King of Hungry to the US. I have a copy of this document which is really cool to have. He entered the US as a 7 year old with his older 11 yr old brother. Their parents stayed back in Czechoslovakia/slovakia. The lived right on the Austrian border which we still have family that live there.

I also have a an original elementary school report card from my great grandfather. The grades are not ABC's, they are Dobre and Velmi Dobre Good and Very Good. This school still exists.

We were always told as a family that it was the political climate/unrest and beginning threats of WWI that influenced the move to the U.S. Historically that sounds plausible.

The card game still played by the Czechs back home "Tarocky" is actually an Austrian game.
